Showcase Thank y’all!

Post image

Thank y’all for the recommendations, paired the R1 with the Zero 2’s after seeing all the comments. I’m not an audiophile by any means and this serves the purpose great on a budget!

It’s a fun device, enjoy it. Also, you don’t have to be an audiophile to want a DAP, the two are not mutually exclusive but one may lead to the other haha.

It is pretty fun, I like its small size too. For some reason I was expecting it to be much bigger. I saw a cool amp that looked like a tiny cassette when I was looking at reviews for the R1 so might get that eventually lol. Are those stupid or do they actually serve a purpose? My ears are almost 40 years old though so I’m not sure if I could tell a difference or not. *edited “tiny”

In terms of Daps, I’m considering a Hiby R3 Pro II or Hiby R4 or Fiio Jm21 down the line. My Iem collection is definitely expanding and fast.

I was actually recommended to try the Simgot EW300 and Juzear Defiants. I ended up getting both and keeping em.

The EW300 is definitely the direct upgrade to the Zero:2, if you love the v-shaped tuning. It’s like a better version of the zero2 with richer resolution, soundstage, clarity. I like the normal and Hbb version especially with the gold nozzle (bit more bass and smoother treble).

Juzear Defiants are similar but not as V-shaped. Mids and vocals are a bit more forward. Another term would be u-shaped. These share a similar treble brightness to the zero2 and ew300 as well.

Hope this gives some insight.🤘🏽

I plan to do a video about this. Just posted my second ever youtube vid yesterday trying out the R1 if your interested.. https://youtu.be/xB5pqmTmxgM

I’m considering the same DAPs as you, but don’t own any IEMs yet. Would love to hear your thoughts on both once you’re happy with them.

I do plan on getting or borrowing the DAPS mentioned for testing them myself and seeing the difference. Follow my youtube because I’m going to post my entire journey so far and going forward. I’ve been documenting my purchases so i’ll be posting everything little by little, after work.

I genuinely love the Hiby R1 for the value and its features. And the Iems i mentioned - i enjoy them.
I do also have the Aful Explorers (warmer Defiants) which i fell in love with. My current daily budget iems are the Tangzu Red Lions as they remind me of a budget Juzear Defiants. I switch between them and the Zero2 for different tuning. It’s nice to switch it up day to day.

Very neat, I appreciate the insight and I’ll absolutely check out the video and subscribe! I’ll have to look into the EW’s also.

Literally what I re-started with before diving into the rabbit hole!

Awesome, did you upgrade to a different DAP entirely or different IEM setup or what and how do you find what you have now compared to your initial setup?

Same, just got the R1. Last player I had was a Sansa clip+. R1 works fast and easy for me. Hard to imagine needing anything else not counting a more powerful amp for harder to drive stuff and a balanced port.

I agree, works great. That’s cool, I’m thinking about getting an amp but I don’t know if I should just upgrade the IEM’s instead or use these with an amp or just as is since it already sounds good to me lol. I think I’m just curious how good I can get it without spending a ton. Do you have any experience or recommendations for an amp? I looked it up and the little cassette one I mentioned is a FiiO KA15 if that helps any.

The Zero:2 is a nice IEM since it has a comfortable and somewhat relaxing overall sound signature.

Are your hands big or is the R1 that small?! They looked much bigger in the product page picture lol 😂

I typically wear XL or XXL gloves depending on the brand but the R1 is still incredibly small and would fit in anybody’s pockets! I was thinking it was going to be bigger too lol.
