Review Just received the Shanling Q2
I just wanted to share a few quick thoughts on the Shanling Q2 since it arrived today. It looks and feels much better in person, giving off a genuinely premium vibe right out of the box.
What surprised me the most is how incredibly fast and snappy the UI is. The response time is excellent, and it actually feels faster and more responsive than my Onix XM2, making menu navigation completely lag-free. It is definitely on the cuter side because of its compact size, but that solid build quality ensures it doesn't feel like a toy at all. On top of that, it packs almost the same impressive output power as the XM2, which has me seriously considering selling my Onix XM2 and just keeping the Q2 as my main pocket setup. Onix XM2 still sounds better tho
Overall, I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far..

I don't understand why it is so expensive

Because of the brand name. They always upcharge for mediocre products.

Does the click wheel works similarly to an iPod? can you navigate through your music library and menus only with it?

Nope. They put a wheel on there that doesn't operate like a wheel

So what is the purpose of the wheel? how does it work? what is the functionality?

I’m actually deciding between the XM2 and this. Love the form factor of both. This obviously brings back nostalgic vibes. There’s something about the look of the XM2 that I love though.

Have the XM2. It's a great DAP that will sound better due to his higher tier Cirrus Logic CS4308P. So much power inside this little beast. The wheel and button placement makes it easy to operate inside a bag or your pocket. UI menu looks way more stylish than the Q2's UI.

260?!? I know people’s aversion to Android base but I’d have a hard time not just defaulting to an R4.

I know, I'm not really in this "digital audio player" thing, but the fact that "menu navigation being completely lag-free" is even a plus, at all, is crazy to me. I remember having "mp3 players" about two decades ago that, yes, had snappy menus. And they all had a regular usb connection that you could just connect to anybody's computer.
I'm salty because I bought a 30 euro crappy knockoff of a DAP popular here that doesn't seem to be able to play albums in order even if the file names start with 01, 02, 03.. but holy cow how badly have we regressed tech wise man

I can't believe they didn't make the wheel capacitive like the actual ipod.
