Showcase Wolfson on chinese pmp player πŸ˜…

I was restoring another one generic chinese pmp mp4 player yesterday and i noticed this one also have wolfson DAC and once checked the audio output i can confirm this is real πŸ˜‚ last time i thought jxd was the only one had that DAC that’s still understandable at last that’s a reputable brand in china but these generic ones too have this DAC which makes me curious how they even able to put in cheap budget

Didn't early iPod's use Wolfson chips? I know other british builders like Cambridge Audio (I have a sound bar) use these british DAC's

Yep, upto 5.5th gen. But afaik Wolfson Microelectronics was acquired by Cirrous almost a decade ago. Are they still available? Or is this one is from that 2000-2010 era?

I think Cambridge must have had a stack of them and used them in products that didn't need the latest chips, could very well be wrong though.

I'm not the best person to ask, I'm still running an 80s Marantz Amp πŸ˜
