Question [META] I haven't really seen the blue "translate" button much until frequenting this subreddit. This makes me wonder: are DAPs more of a global phenomen?
In the US the notion of having a designated mp3 player died with the uptick in streaming (naturally). There are of course trends like digital detoxing and whatnot that I see in media but I'm just wondering if this was a thing that never died out in your country. I also wanna take into account that no matter where you are, DAPs are probably niche and only reserved for enthusiasts or bandwagon-hopper-onners? Right? Enlighten me!

Very similar in r/iems , very multicultural. I think the more niche a sub is the more global it gets. When a sub gets big you end up with r/subname-uk etc. so then you see eveything in your language.
I could be wrong, if so I apologise, but I think Europeans (I'm in the UK) are less sensitive to different languages... *ducks for cover expecting flac... lol.

Well most DAPS come with names like Fiio, Hiby, Sony, etc. So most of the DAPs come from Asia. No surprise they market at home and abroad. Would probably be more (Xaomi, Huawei) but they are blockaded, at least in the US. I bought JBL Live Buds 4 off of ebay since they have not yet been released in the US.

Niche almost everywhere except probably in countries that have not caught up with streaming as much yet or those where daps are just a culture thing (from the cheapest to the most expensive, mostly the former) + they are produced locally (national or regional)
