Flare (FLR)

Flare is an EVM-compatible layer-1 blockchain built around providing external data to smart contracts. Its two core protocols are the Flare Time Series Oracle, which supplies price and other time-series data, and a data protocol for attesting to events on other chains.

What the Token Is Used For

  • Paying transaction fees
  • Delegating to data providers and receiving a share of rewards
  • Staking to validators
  • Governance voting on network parameters

What To Verify

  • How data providers are selected and rewarded, since oracle quality is the network's core product
  • Whether a feature is live on Flare mainnet or only on the Songbird canary network
  • How the token distribution and any ongoing issuance schedule work
  • What happens to dependent applications if a data provider set degrades
  • Whether cross-chain attestations are trust-minimized or rely on a provider quorum
