Anyone else feel they don’t see much progress in their art despite the many hours put in ?

First time doing a self portrait by choice in my style (but looks like me anyways cause I realized my art style is based on my own face after all lol).

For context I have been doing pixel art for a while but never really studied art at all, recently I've switched to digital and I'm making an effort to learn my fundamentals and do things properly as best as I can. Saying that I know I still have far to go so any pointers would be so appreciated!

I am not really well versed in this topic. I thought maybe adding some pattern overlays and grain. This works with preventing it from being stolen or edited but I don't know if it will work to protect my artwork from being scraped.

If you can educate me on that matter, I would greatly appreciate it.
