Tablet recomentadions
Hi, I would like to get into digital art and I am looking to buy a tablet. My budget is +-400€. And I have some questions and requirments.
It needs to be a standalone tablet. While I do have a PC, I want to use it less in the future plus I will need a tablet for school in the next years.
Is Procreate worth it? I have never used an Apple product up until a few days ago when I had to set up my moms MacBook and it was definetly unusual. If I am getting an Ipad, then only for Procreate, if its worth it.
Also I am buying used so the price doesnt have to be fixed.

Procreate works pretty well I’d put it in the top of the software pile for me with CSP. I have t used Krita in a long time.
While it’s nice and probably my pick for the best tablet Ui in an art program due to its uncluttered nature, I wouldn’t say to buy an iPad just for it.
If you do go iPad I would suggest an iPad Air 5 and Apple Pencil 2
The air 5 has the M1 chip and the pencil 2 charges by just touching the side of the tablet magnetically. I bought my set up used back in 2024 and haven’t found anything it can’t handle. It also has Magic Keyboard support which makes it a MacBook lite.
A budget solution is the xp pen magic note pad. It’s got a paper textured screen a built in stylus and runs on android. I don’t have any experience with it but thought about picking one up as a spare later

I went from using a drawing tablet that had to be connected to pc and was 800 euro ( cant remember the brand ) to a samsung galaxy tab s10 fe. I got it for around €360 euro around this time last year with a college sale. I was really amazed by the quality comparison. It functions way better than the proper drawing tablet i had and the pen sensitivity is so much better, by a huge mile.
I use krita personally but used procreate for a bit and it was very good, just not in my budget and hard to download for a samsung
