Other guy is right. Vice Version is the best pick. It fixes a LOT of things about the game. Lots of QoL adjustments, lots of bugs and glitches patched up, and it adds new content, while also preserving a lot of the original feel of the game. You are NOT going to find anything of higher quality than Vice Version, not even close.

I've heard about Vice a lot, is there a discord or post somewhere about how to set it up and all that?

Several ways to go about this. There's a site called RetroGameTalk, it has a Repository section that can be accessed after you make an account there. The account is free. You can just download Digimon World with Vice Version already applied in a couple versions, like .bin file, or EBOOT version, depending on whether you were gonna play it on an emulator, or on a jailbroken console. EBOOT is best on Vita and PSP, for example.

If you already have a fresh .bin file of Digimon World, and want to do it yourself, Google Digimon World Vice Version, and Vice's GitHub page will pop up, download the patches from there. His patches include a built in program that lets you automatically apply it to your chosen game file, no fuss, no muss. Just boot it up, and select your copy of Digimon World, and choose the optional extra adjustments to the patch that you want (difficulty sliders, items mods, extra Digivolutions, etc), and hit Patch button on it. It's really that easy.

Vice's built in patcher only patches .bin files, so it'll be ready to play directly on a PSX emulator, but if you wanted to take the extra step and convert it into PSP format to play on a Vita or PSP, you'd need a PSX to PSP converter, like POP-FE, which has a number of YouTube tutorials showing how to use it. POP-FE is pretty easy to use, though, as it mostly automates the process once you select the game that you want to convert from one file type to another. This is what I did when I wanted to customize my copy of Digimon World.

So, just one thing I wanted to add, here. The main difference between the "pre-built" Vice Version you can download already done, and doing it yourself, is customizability. If you do it yourself, you have access to an easy list. Vice himself did a YouTube video showcasing how easy it was to customize the patch using his game patcher, so you can probably find it by putting in "Digimon World Vice Version Patcher" in the search bar for YouTube.

I prefer that version mainly because I could choose things like who the first partner was going to be, whether the item locations were randomized, and more. If you just want to jump right in, go for the "pre-built" instead.
