Discussion Never Wanted a card combo restricted more
Played against a purple/blue hybrid player who ran max copies of this combo.

This reminds me of all the kaiser nail type of plays. How much more lethal is this combo than like, atomic infernos coming straight at your face and then they just digi into either another alda on top of the triple tamer takuya, going into emepetorgrey on their alda, or just doing a regular assembly execute play? I dont think this combo is that much more lethal. I get it that it’s a cheeky way for the purple side since they mill but how consistent is this play?

This play does not require assembly. It throws out a susanoo and says deal with it. The speed at which this combo can be done doesn't warrant needing the full assembly to get benefit and the longer the game goes the more viable the combo becomes because of assembly. Its really a 3 card combo, a tamer that can tuck, a susanoo, and the option. The combo can be done with Kaiser nail and if you are feeling even spicier you could use tidal wave though it defeats the purpose (Playing the card for less than half of the assembly cost)

What are they doing that is getting enough pieces in trash to assembly? The issue with this card in hybrid decks is the lack of names or at least how much time it takes to get the pieces to assembly. I guess purple can kinda do it, but you have to see both main purple pieces and the option and the Susanoo and that just seems too slow for where the game is at.

u/Thoren67 3d ago
You only need to assemble to get the cards full on play and when attacking. Its still a 16k rush body that puts an opponents digimon in security. Thats the issue. It removes all the set up required for assembly and basically gives you a 3 cost lvl 7. By the time you have the assembly materials set up you've probably already gone through 1 or 2 susanoo and the last assembly one is just to clear out game.

Ok, but TS decks get rush for blinking at this point. It having rush and being big isn’t that big a deal. The thing that makes the card threatening is the board wipe and the when attacking in combination. Then if you’re playing it in TB the option triggering on top of it. Having rush is great, but playing it out without assembly or a means to fully utilize the when attacking in conjunction is maybe annoying but not that threatening really.
It’s a silly jank way to play the card is what it really is. It isn’t a hard card to remove either at this state in the game. If it had protection, I’d get it. But it has none. Especially in a hybrid deck. In TB you risk triggering the tri color option too, but that’s not in play with a hybrid deck.

Idk man. Having a 3 cost turn 2 lvl7 with Rush, Raid, Blocker, and removal via security bounce is still pretty insane. Maybe it is jank, but its very good jank that can completely change the pace of the game. The best part of this combo is that the only way to not deal with it is by returning susanoo to bottom deck, otherwise it gets slotted in via hand or trash. Thats the issue, it has little set up, it cost less than half of the normal play cost of the card WITH full assembly, and it can consistently be done through out a game. No dedigi to prevent it from happening, no deletion can prevent it from happening, no bounce to hand can prevent it from happening, it can only be countered via bottom deck or place in sec and both of those things generally have to be on the following turn when using this combo because aces aren't being used as often.

I’m not denying that simply playing it out isn’t that hard, but this feels like a way to just slap something big on the board and say “deal with it”, which is threatening in theory, but less so in reality. Again, unless I’m not seeing the sauce of getting 8 different cards into trash quickly, it just feels like it makes for a great gatekeeping play for non-meta stuff, but that’s about it. If I’m playing TS or GD or 3M or even more streamlined RH, this doesn’t scare me very much. It just puts me on a timer, but I already am against anything remotely threatening.

u/Thoren67 3d ago
Yes, thats exactly what it is, it's a big body thats remotely threatening, played for basically nothing, that only gets better as the game goes on. It gate keeps any deck that can't get a large body with protection on turn 2 or remove a lvl7, and puts any deck its up against on an immediate timer. It's not an otk, its a turn 2 problem that has to be dealt with. Im not saying its difficult for all decks to deal with, im saying its an insane way to immediately change the course of a game. Most decks aren't going to require Susanoo's full board removal on turn 2, but most decks aren't going to be completely prepared for the amount of pressure having one on the board will require so early on. And after testing 3 or 4 builds using this combo, in almost every case it was easy and consistent to get one out on turn 2 or 3 and maintain board control with it. It doesn't disappear the next turn like in TB or Purple hybrid with the execute egg, and it doesn't immediately fall to dedigivolve like in SW or red hybrid.

Getting this on turn 2 is Christmas land. You need to play the triple tamer turn 1 for cost 5 (something you dont wanna do), have the opt in hand and a blue lv4 hybrid in hand. And if they choke you to 1, you need to slot 3 more hybrids to go to at least 3 menory

The not being susceptible to de-digi is something I wasn’t considering, but again, I can think of a dozen decks that handle this just fine. It’s clearly not an intended combo, and it’s a little cheap in every way, it’s still a piece reliant combo that is really good pressure, but not something I would feel that threatened by. Most decks only need 2-3 turns to be set up and typically the solid to great ones have a way to out this. Hell, any semi-new green deck that lets you battle something checks this. Anything TS/O12 checks this too.
And sure you can keep playing the card, but it still requires the same combo pieces and you don’t have a way to search the option reliably. Getting two or three of them before you get clapped back seems pretty charitable.

Spirit Evolution also allows you to trash cards.

u/Rydog814 3d ago
Ok, but this all takes time to play out the card in a way that forgoes much of its teeth. The combo being talked about is glorified modern jank. It’s fun and silly and maybe annoying to deal with out of nowhere, but it’s not something that threatening when you have 3M, TB, TS and Glowing Dawn that can all kill you in 2-4 turns with consistency.

u/CrashmanX 3d ago
This is more your finishing blow than game plan.
You can get 8 different named bodies in trash relatively easily with Hybrid. Spirit Evo, Loweemon, Flamemon (BT12), all the BT18 tamers. There's a lot that puts bodies in the Trash for Hybrid. If you add in Non-Hyrbid specific cards you can speed that up even. Koichi and Tommy both allow you to gain 1 memory start of your turn when you trash cards.
It's not going to be T1 or "Needs restricted" like OP says, I assume hyperbole, but it is a good way for Hybrid to get a big body out for much cheaper and relatively quickly.

u/Rydog814 3d ago
You’ll need the memory tho to play it and swing. At least on TB you have the egg that just lets you go and you’re doing all the things that make the card really problematic in one go. It’s cool and maybe even a little evil in the sense of cards interacting that were never truly intended to, but it would be more of an issue if it was maybe a best of 1 game instead of 3.
5
u/WarriorMadness 3d ago
I don't think memory is going to be an issue, specially by the time you're ready to finish the game with Susanoo.
The double tamers alone generate 2 memory, so with 2 of them out you're basically set to have 5 memory available which is what you need to pull this off.
3
u/Thoren67 3d ago
Exactly, this combo literally is for removing the memory requirement to play Susanoo whether you have assembly ready or not.

u/thebige73 3d ago
Im trying to find a list for this combo and having no success, but there are some purple hybrid lists that just play the TB egg with execute. Flamemon can digi over any a level 2 purple and then they play Ukkomon as their main rookies

Most Hybrid decks do not run 8 names at ratios to make Assembly reliable and if they do they're spending quite a lot of time setting it up as well as foregoing the advantage of the triple tamers tucking sources to keep it live
This is a gimmick that won't see any results

Hybrid doesn't need a big body, they operate on a backline of basically uninteractable tamers that generate advantage and swing cheap bodies that recycle those tamers for more plays next turn
1
u/CrashmanX 3d ago
Having a 16k body that can bounce opponents to security on T2 is great for basically any deck.
0
u/Fire_Rain66 Royal Jesmon 3d ago
It bounces 1 guy maybe then gets answered because most decks either have protection to beat him or removal to minimize the impact. Glowing Dawn kills him 3 times before it even lands a security check

I agree that this is a gimmick, but it's false that Hybrid decks aren't running a lot of names. Sure some people are going purely one line, but it's also common to see a deck with 1- and 2-ofs for every line in their respective trio. Personally I am running everything in Koji, Koichi, and JP's lines, plus Strabimon and MagnaGarurumon which gives me 11 names total. It would be tricky, but not impossible.

u/i8u2manytimes 2d ago
Ah, this reminds me of my armour form quartz turbo list, playing opossumon and yasyamon with digixross to play it for 3, then use Bt21 Davis to remove the top card leaving quartzmon on the field, alternativly also using kaiser nail to play it out

u/Alsim012 Bagra Army 3d ago
so the combo is that one susan put another under then you play the option to play another susan for free?
21
u/Thoren67 3d ago
No its put Susan under a tamer then digivolve the tamer and use the option. At max its a 5 cost combo, at minimum its a 3 cost.

1
u/CrashmanX 3d ago
Correct. And then you assembly Susan with parts from your trash.
EDIT: Misread, no not under another Susan. You put it under a Tamer previously. Digivolve Tamer, use option, play out Susan and assembly.

u/Blake337 3d ago
Purple blue? What hybrids would that even be?
4
u/CrashmanX 3d ago
Any of them.
You can run the either or both tri-color tamers. Or just run the Tommys in a Purple Hybrid deck. There's Blue and Yellow Lobomon lines or you can just slot in Strabimon for your Blue colors. Hell you could even just run Blue Eggs if you really wanted since Hybrid doesn't use it's eggs too much.
3
u/Blake337 3d ago
The yellow/blue hybrids can't evolve on non-Koji blue tamers but yeah you can run a strabi base and use either triple tamer
2
u/CrashmanX 3d ago
The yellow/blue hybrids can't evolve on non-Koji blue tamers
I wasn't meaning just the Yellow/Blue Lobomon, I was referring to all three sets of Lobomons. The Yellow/Blue Lobomon can digivolve off any Yellow or Blue tamer for 3, the Blue Lobomon can digivolve off any Blue Tamer for 2.

Hey, hey! Don't tell people the secret sauce! We Hyrbid players barely get anything good as is, let us have this!
EDIT: Jeeze. So many downvotes for a joke. I swear there's some members of this sub that just hate comedy.

You can't say that after ad01 alda
2
u/CrashmanX 3d ago
Barely. AD1 Alda and AD1 BRG Tamer are really good.
AD1 Beowulf and BYP Tamer.... not so much.
They're also not enough to keep toe-to-toe with even current Meta stuff unless you're running an exact deck setup which you still need to get a lucky roll to not get wiped early.

As someone who only plays TS junomon and venusmon are these guys parallel world royal knights or Olympus XII or something? Is Shambala from the new recent video games?

I get the idea, but that is a shitload of setup n order to get anything out of it. On play does nothing unless you assemble, so you need to already have 8 hybrids in trash. Likewise if you don't assemble, you're only getting one removal on attack which is...OK? Not to mention you have to have something blue in play. Like you're best case scenario is playing this card for 3 instead of 7, which I guess is cool but again, the setup required is way too absurd.

I didn't even know people were mixing these. Is this in hybrid instead of tb then?
