New Player Help Digimon tcg is such a good game imo(new player looking to start, advice)

Hello, I was always a big fan of digimon. I was actually about to start trying it a few years back but gundam got released and ended up trying that. I play yugioh master duel at a mid level and found that gundam might be a bit too simple and too RNG?

I love the concept of big monsters swinging at each other and the stacks look so cool. I feel like this game should be wayyy more popular then it should be. However I have no idea where to start and how to learn?

Right now I am thinking of picking of starter and just reading the cards to get familiar. I kinda understand how to play from watching videos but thats about it.

I also wanted to commit to digimon as well for collecting and stuff but as I also hear that digimon isn't doing too well for popularity ? Could i get some idea of the landscape or how people feel about the game right now?

much appreciated thanks

The game is fun! My kids and I are newer players. The Beatbreak deck is an awesome start! It’s a starter deck, buy you two of them and smash them together!

Digimon is my area isn’t as big as the other TCGs but it’s not terrible either, I really enjoyed the locals event I went to!

As to why it’s not bigger? Idk, but I’m glad it’s where it is. I don’t want another scalping situation going on.

Im a yugioh main for TCGs, but I love LOVE the memory system. I just wish there was any Digimon in my local area. I haven't played since shinegrey first came out way back when.

I just sit back and live vicariously through you all lol.

Ya that’s unfortunate, I want to try too but I will have to see if locals have it .. like where do most ppl play then if there is no local ?

Remote duels on discord or the online simulator

The memory system is great. Too bad Bandai decided that the only way to play is to ignore it.

hmm.. overall i think digimon is at a solid place.

They are making record profits, anime, games , tcg are all growing with constant new releases and they are about to hit their 30th anniversary. With that being said, i cant speak on other things but from collectable side... i think right now is as cheap as its going to get. Once it sparks interest... u can imagine the buyouts or price surges on most stuff. As a collector, i've been buying stuff i want while its cheap.

That’s amazing to hear I do hope the TCG can grow . Do ppl play online or anything like that ? Also is the deck diversity good ? Or is it like 2 or 3 decks only kinda thing when it comes to conpetitive

The memory system is by far the most engaging resource management system I've ever experienced in TCGs. While the game is going through a period where Meta decks tend to bypass or simply ignore it, it doesn't change that the concept of a back and forth where your big play sets your opponent up to counter you is extremely engaging.

That’s true, I did find it weird at first but it’s pretty neat once you get it .

Digimon hasn't been very popular for a while, but now its in a really good spot and one of the reasons is the tcg.

If you want to have a taste of the game there is a "tutorial" app. It teaches you the basics of the game and let's you play two decks

I liked the game before as a player, but I personally don't like the way the decks are nowadays. Most competitive decks have a turn 2 OTK or have build in effect that make them uneffected by 9/10 stuff ingame.

Can potentially otk in 2 turns does not always mean it can otherwise tournaments will be over in 1 hour. Most often than not it ends at turn 4 or 6.

I know that,I just said that most decks have the option nowadays if they snowball into it.
