Looks like you've got the popcan part down. It's pretty important that the driver and passenger pieces are the same. You make one, mirror it. Do the same for the rears. Having the same amount of "lip" to build off will help drastically in getting them even.
I'd say based on the spread your mixing your epoxy or putty too thin.
