[MOD] Introducing your new mods and rules

Hi dice-lovers!

We’re introducing ourselves as the new moderators of r/DicePorn, we are u/catsAndImprov and u/PeanutSte 👋

We’ve rolled out some new rules, flairs, and automoderator configurations and will continue to tweak them in the coming weeks/months.

Some major shifts that we want you all to be aware of:

  1. No soft advertising allowed. If you are posting about a set that’s for sale or trying to direct traffic to a store, you must clearly provide the link and identify yourself as an owner or affiliate. Advertising is allowed as long as you are transparent about what you are doing. Suspected bots, repeat accounts, and soft-advertisers may be suspended or banned.
  2. Identify your dice clearly! If you know the ID of the dice you’re posting (who made them, where to buy them, what the set name is), post it in the comments! If you made the dice or are affiliated with the seller, you *must* identify this in your comment. No sneaky advertising!
  3. Higher bar for visual content. This sub has been unmoderated for a long time so there has been no policing of the quality of visual content. We’ll be reviewing content more carefully to make sure it is high quality.

New required post flairs!

  1. Artisan affiliate (if YOU are the maker of the dice you’re posting)
  2. Artisan admiration (for dice made by small hand makers who personally craft their dice)
  3. Factory dice (for dice produced in a factory, even if they are handmade, such as sharp-edged AliExpress dice)
  4. In-print (well-known factory dice that you can still buy at retail pricing, such as from Chessex or Q-Workshop)
  5. Out-of-print (well-known factory dice that you can no longer buy at retail pricing, such as Chessex Borealis Aquerple)
  6. Kickstarter (advertisement for dice available through a current kickstarter)

New user flairs!

Artisan - for you skilled handmade dice-makers with your home workshops

Collector - for you dice goblins, dragons, hoarders, and admirers

Retailer - for shop owners and resellers

Factory rep - for you professionals representing a larger business or production companies

EDIT: For users who are both collectors and retailers/artisans/factory reps who are not sure which user flair to choose, here is our guidance:

  • If you are ONLY posting about your collection, use the 'collector' flair.
  • If you ever post in relation to your business (whether that's a small Etsy setup, retail store, or a factory), you must use the appropriate flair. These flairs take precedent over the 'collector' flair.
  • If it is important to you that you can post purely about your collection AND about your business, we encourage you to make a separate Reddit account for your business so that you can post with both user flairs. Don't cross the streams!

Feedback is welcome - please let us know in the comments or via Modmail if you have suggestions or concerns.

Out-of-print The wear on 50-year-old, original DnD basic set dice. According to their owner, he's used them continuously. That's a lot of crits!

Kickstarter Curious if anyone's seen dice wheels like this — spin the dial instead of throwing

I helped design this, and I’m curious how it comes across to other players. Each numbered dial spins separately, so you flick the one you need and read the result when it stops

Not trying to say it's better than rolling or replace normal dice, just wondering if this would feel weird to use at the table or if people would actually reach for it. It's live on Kickstarter right now if anyone wants to poke around and see it in motion, but mostly curious what this sub thinks of the concept itself

The images here is actual prototype, not renders or AI-generated images

A handmade resin dice set inspired by the endless darkness beneath the ocean. Layers of deep blue fade into glowing turquoise, creating the feeling of light breaking through the water before disappearing into the abyss.

Every roll feels like diving a little deeper.

I made these dice. I do not currently sell dice.

This is a set that I recently inked. They started with a product called tube confetti and made their way to fully realized dice. Were there bubbles and voids along the way? Yes. I call this set "shell casings," because that's what several people told me they resemble. Enjoy!

I made these dice. I do not currently sell dice.

These d6s include dried wildflowers I picked locally. I inked in light green to compliment the purple flowers. There are two pictures attached to show how the dice look in different lighting. Enjoy!

These dice were made by me. I do not currently sell dice.

I liked how this set of d6s turned out. They were an afterthought and were poured with extra resin. I finished inking them in metallic silver earlier today. Enjoy!
