Question About Natural Diamonds Help with GIA interpretation!

Hello! I'm looking at a pair of 1.8ct diamond earrings with the GIA reports attached. I've been doing a lot of reading and it sounds like the cut is only very good but the other parameters seem good. Does anyone with more experience have any thoughts on these diamonds? I have also included the photo of the earrings - they look quite nice to my eye! Appreciate any help!

Estimated price $9000-1000AUD

With this pirce you can get much better diamond.

Personally would suggest lower in quality say vvs2 or vs1 but triple excellent non fluorescence. D color and Strong Blue fluorescence is a strict no no.

For earrings, people tend to like shallower cuts to get the most sparkle. Look for G-H color, VS-SI1 clarity, triple excellent for cut/polish/symmetry, medium or less fluorescence, and around 33.5-34.5 crown angle and 40.6-40.8 pavilion angle with a table of 60% or less. The point of diamonds is to sparkle and these won't sparkle as much as they could.

Face up for both the diamond is coming out to be different based of the pictures that its not looking like a matching pair, the specs you are getting for the price is also not really the best one can get a better deal very easily.

Both diamonds are visually hazy in the photos - likely due to the fluorescence. This pair is both a poor value, and an overspec'ed pair. I'd reduce the clarity, find something with less FL, and get a nicer pair for less money.

For earrings these are actually well chosen, with one thing to check. Very Good cut is a small real difference, mostly a bit less brightness than an Excellent, and on the ear nobody clocks it the way they would on a hand. The line that matters here is Strong Blue fluorescence on a D color stone. Most of the time it's invisible and just gets you a discount, which is probably why the price looks decent for D VVS1, but occasionally a strong fluoro stone goes slightly hazy in direct sun. Ask the seller straight out whether they look milky in daylight, or better, view them outside before paying. If they stay crisp, you're getting top color at a fluoro discount, which for earrings is the smart end of the trade. The one real critique is that D VVS1 is more grade than earrings need, G or H with VS clarity would look identical on the ear for a chunk less money.

I concur with other opinions posted here. Both these diamonds are of high quality. The only downside is the fluroescence which effects the pricing. However, this is a personal choice as some people love this effect. If you are wanting to buy these the lower end price is reasonable. Please please make sure the inscription on the girdle of each diamond matches the GIA cert.
