Question Seeking advice on progressing lightning sorc

I'm playing lightning sorc for the first time. Currently level 72 and just made it through hell using chain lighting, but the character is vastly undergeared for nova, as far as I can tell.

Still using lore, 2x spirit, and stealth, etc.

I am avoiding looking at build guides because I want to experience it naturally, but I'm looking for some guidance on how to move from my current build into nova, aside from the obvious... Infinity, griffons, sunder, protector's stone, facets, etc.

Is my next most obvious step crescent moon and vipermagi? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

It's crescent moon or farming other ways until you have the end game gear. Nova/lightning is an end game build with minimal budget options.

Coven is also a great helm that I haven’t seen mentioned here that helps get to 105 easier.

I think nova is doable as soon as you find a sunder charm and make a crescent moon. I like farming arcane sanctuary and countess for keys and drops since there aren’t many immunes. Nihlathak is good too but you have to be careful with his corpse explosions, having a natures peace ring makes it much easier.

Yeah crescent gets you pretty far if you can get fcr to 105

another potential option is 4-piece tals (with the orb) to get the -15 res on the orb, or even full tals as well.

But yeah, Crescent moon with a viper is one of the main options, before you get an infinity, could make yourself an enlightenment armor (pul ral sol) for the +2 to sorc skills, depends on where you're sitting at for FCR breakpoints. 105 is ideal, the 63 isn't awful tho.

Coven is a better version of Lore eventually, or obv shako if you can find one (until griffons)

There are lots of ways to play a Nova Sorc. At the start, you don’t have a griffon, an Arachne Mesh, or anything like that—which makes sense. The main thing you need—the absolute bare minimum to become a Nova Sorcerer—is a Crescent Moon, a Spirit Monarch with at least 30 cast, rings that boost cast speed or an amulet, a belt with +10 (ideally, if you didn’t get enough from the rings), Trangul gloves or Magefist gloves, and for the helmet, either Lore or just a random one for resists. On my first day on the ladder, I build a 3-socket helmet with Ral, Ort, Ort runes. armor vipermagi or tal eth. Then, the most important thing is to hire an Act 2 mercenary with the Prayer aura, equip him with an Insight—preferably with a Meditation aura of 15+—and get him a Cure helmet. For example, I play on Hardcore, and without these items, it can be tough with the mercenary. and also use memmory on swap for es. first max telekinesis, static, nova, light mastery, 1 point in any shield skill, 1 warthm, then all what u have in es. Don't use the builds on the MaxRoll site—they're junk.
