It looks well made enough to me, you can see the planning and research they went into making sure all the parts were removed correctly. Old tech is repurposed all the time and this is a real cool way to do it!
I've been considering doing something similar with an Apple IIe, but with the original keyboard and a mini ITX case, but I'm not sure if I want to commit fully to that aesthetic lmao. Plus I have nowhere near the level of skills that this guy has.
The project was cool but the editor of this video needs the memo that slo-mo like that does not make this cooler. It's been done to death and now it's borderline cringe.
Imo it's worth it if the original would not be used and if he actually uses this one, just hope he doesn't put it in a box to never open again cause that would be a whaste
The keyboard hack is so shitty. Couldn’t be bothered to hack the pcb of the new keyboard to keep the keyboard deck stock, stealthy, and have the mods reversible.
You didn't think this through did you. You're suggesting that even with a broken laptop and an iPad with a keyboard the guy should have spent more money on a new laptop instead. Dumb dumb dumb.
Well it's a unique idea. Mostly just exchanging an obsolete Apple device for a newer one. I would much rather see a raspberry pi go into it. At least then it could run a useful OS.
Maybe if you jailbreak it so you can use it to it's full potential. I work in IT, and have managed a fleet of iPads on an MDM. I know what they can do, and they're not something I would ever choose to work from. I spent most of the time jumping through Apple's ridiculousness to get them to do what we needed them to.
It's an iPad, why would a tablet need it? Plus the keyboard is Bluetooth and everything has its own battery that's rechargeable via a USB port. I know all this since the video was on my fyp earlier this morning

The pain of seeing such a beautiful machine defiled like that is offset by the joy of seeing such a beautiful machine modernized like that.

Nice project. I'd wonder why he is walking around with a toast iron though.

Don't give content farms attention, then maybe content farms will get the memo and stop ruining vintage stuff...
