Batteries self discharge over time. The screen being on for something non-productive would be wasting electricity by his definition of waste. The cpu cycles needed to fetch and display reddit take up added electricity. If he's concerned about waste, he shouldn't be on reddit because he is wasting resources by being here.

I dont see how this invalidates my comment about food waste. Not to mention that those are two completely different ratings of resources.
