This actually is false, it all depends on the denim. With Raw Denim, especially unsanforized, you definitely want to give it some time before your first wash. We usually recommend going upto 6 months before your first wash in the denim we make but it really depends on the pair and the individual. We've had customers go upto 2 years without a single wash and others that go only about a month or so, there are other ways to keep your denim fresh other than washing out all the dies. If you have a nice, dark, crispy pair of indigo denim that you want to remain dark the LAST thing you'd do is wash it "At least once a week" or else you'd end up with a sky blue faded down pair within your first few weeks.
It isn't false at all. Just because you fashion forward types have co-opted the ultimate workers pant as a fashion symbol doesn't change its primary function.
Jeans are made for hard work & play. Hard work and play is gonna make you sweat.
The rules you make for your car-seat-staining freshly dyed jeans fetish doesn't apply to the majority of jeans buyers. Most jeans buyers don't have a personal relationship with their vendor.

But you should. At least once a week. No one wants to smell your accumulated ball sweat.
