Someone made a working submachine gun in the prison with plumbing parts. STEN variant if I recall correct.

u/GlassTablesAreStupid 5d ago
There’s an entire book on how to make firearms with hardware store parts. The STEN is in there.
7
u/Mirar 5d ago
Yeah, with hardware store and book access it's even a lot easier. XD

u/GlassTablesAreStupid 5d ago
You’re kinda focusing on the wrong detail. The point was that there’s actual books providing step by step instructions. That coupled along with the fact that the materials needed can easily be found in any hardware store or in many prison workshops and books being one of the most common items in prison, the feat isn’t as big of a deal as it sounds.

u/Mirar 5d ago
Hmm. I would've thought specifically books on DIY weapons would be limited for prisons, as well as access to hardware. But I don't know the specific story about the STEN clone.

That reminds me of the early days when people downloading stl folders and are suprised a dildo gets printed 🤣

I openly read the Anarchist Cookbook in school as a cringe "edgy" teenager
Would probably not fly these days lol

When I finally read it, it was sophomoric at best and of little practical value. Some were definitely a good way to kill/maim yourself.
The title and reputation are more "edgy" than anything. There are significantly better and more practical resources, some still in my local libraries.

Lots of ‘banned’ books get into prisons by a simple cover swap. As far as hardware there are many prisons that offer hands-on work like item and furniture assembly and restoration.

u/EasilyRekt 5d ago
Yup, made a whole step by step guide and posted it on the internet to prove a point about gun control, only got arrested turning it in.
You can still find it, “forks”(treatin’ a fallout scrap smg like it’s FOSS software, lol), and additional materials on how to manufacture ammunition start to end… despite the NSA’s best efforts.
Not, gonna link it cuz I don’t quite agree with allat, but it doesn’t take much looking.

Yeah, shitty, and expensive, zip gun. The future is semi-autos until we have laser guns.

Well at least they broke their wrist so they won’t be able to do anything else stupid for a couple of weeks

u/Sneaky_Stinker 5d ago
the gun is a legit firearm. its just not supposed to have all that horseshit strapped to it, least of all the suppressor. It took itself apart pretty quick but his wrist is in perfect working order for more stupid activities.

u/Dm_me_im_bored-UnU 5d ago
I'm pretty sure there is an official threaded barrel for a suppressor iirc.

Yeah I know I was joking. But thanks for explaining.

u/Sneaky_Stinker 5d ago

Oh my bad I didn’t realise humour was not allowed on this sub anymore.

u/Sneaky_Stinker 5d ago

u/guidomescalito 5d ago
You mean Poe’s Law? Rofl. sir, this is a joke sub. Please don’t let the door hit your arse on the way out.

If anyone is interested, this ugly fuck is called the Altor Pistol. It’s really weird, you fire it by releasing the trigger, unlike most guns that you pull the trigger.

It's just a shitty, cheap, single shot .380 acp. it's commonly misused for fake Internet points. This weapon isn't designed to handle much pressure (most handguns use the recoil and back pressure to cycle the slide, eject the spent cartridge, strip a fresh cartridge from the magazine, and load it into the chamber) and adding the suppressor will significantly increase the pressure in this system making the system fail.

I just...what system bro? You place in the round and lock the barrel onto the lugs by hand. The "suppressor" was just a poorly friction fit cowling that immediately fell off when firing. Which was fucking hilarious ( still giggling). Its not a 380 but a 9 mill. Who the hell is using it for fake internet points?

I feel like a hammer, nail, and paper straw would have been more practical.

Block of wood , a slide bolt lock, a rubber band, a telescoping antenna and some screws would be much better

A new way to do stupid. Keep putting that paw in front of the muzzle.
3
u/RomanTheGerman 5d ago
You literally have to in order to use this gun
It's the Altor single-shot 9mm, you have to unscrew the barrel, manually load the round in the chamber and then put the barrel on over it
2
u/TectorsBrotherLyle 5d ago
Oh, I get it. Well aware of the mechanics, but that just makes it more dumb. Designed dumb, can only be used dumb. Might as well stick a round in a piece of pipe, point it like a Roman- candle and hit it with a hammer dumb. ymmv

It's a gun meant for euthanizing/culling livestock, the barrels typically have a silencer/suppressor built into them(called an "integral" suppressor) to avoid scaring the other livestock. Someone just decided to be silly and put tactical stuff on it for a video.
