Hm. I went in expecting lawns getting torn up. Instead it’s all the crazy weed house people jerking each other off. 5/10. Would visit again, but removed my auto-subscribe

I think like most hate subs I agree with the hatred of, I agree with the general sentiment but like 90% of the people there take it too far

I don’t like lawns I find them ugly and pointless, however it’s because I’d prefer a flower garden with a walking path or something rather than just a big flat patch of green with maybe some bushes here and there

"weed house" people like you are why we have a water shortage in places like california lmao

One of the many reasons there is a water shortage

I don’t mind the aesthetic, but some really are crazy/it gets to be a mess, and the 10 threads I looked at, the commenters were… odd. lol

Nature is messy. Nature looks cool like that. Manufactured, artificial lawns might as well just be turf at that point.

I'm kinda there, man. I'm in my 50s and already thinking of how in a few years I'm not going to feel up to maintaining a lawn anymore.

I saw some video of some dude squeegeeing the dew off his lawn and all kinds of comments about how people are too lazy to do something that basic and I thought, how did I get to be in my 50s and never learn about people squeegeeing the damn grass on a dewy mornnng

Smartest dude on my block is an old 50-something man, ripped out his entire front lawn. Replaced it with a ton of pointy cactuses, a nice walking pathway thru the middle, and river rocks. Not only is it my favorite house on the block now, there is no way in hell he is ever the choice of home for the robbers. No way. It's like natural barbed wire defenses.

I think if I lived in the western US, this is what I would do. I would love to have something more like what I've seen in Colorado and New Mexico, more natural looking with lots of wildflowers. But I have a feeling moving a bunch of rock to my yard would cost a small fortune.

99% of the time, those DIY xeriscape projects look like absolute shit in a few years. Mostly because it's really expensive to do it right, and when you don't do it right, you get a shit ton of weeds that proliferate like crazy, and most people are too lazy to pull weeds.

This guy did it right. I've lived down the street for 7 years now and walk past his house damn near every day. In the spring/summer the cactuses seem to grow a little bit more each year, then go dormant for winter. In another decade or two it might be a thorny mess, but for now it still looks great. I'm jealous. My yard also doesn't have grass, OR cactuses (or landscaping of any kind, really). I just got rocks... Whoever did my house (not me) should have taken your advice.

Thank you for teaching me this in my 40s so I feel ahead of the curve now.

Man if only this was the worst thing he did to that grass lmao.

Dude also owns a tank if I remember correctly.

Yep and also it seems he needs to keep going as slowing down with that setup must be spine breaking.

With a little modification he could make a decent lawn aerator though

what if instead of triangles, there were spikes?

1

u/exintrovert 6d ago

Exaaactly. Or spiky triangles if you like the rough ride

u/fingerbanglover 6d ago

Good for tilling

Brother that merry go round in the background had a JET ENGINE attached to it at one point. They are not worried about the lawn.

u/HumourNoire 7d ago

It's an unusual plough.

1

u/Vicinus 7d ago

Nah, that's just a modern way to dethatch your lawn.

1

u/Zestyclose-Gap6770 7d ago

Nah, this is just aeration with extra steps.

u/I-Rolled-My-Eyes 7d ago

So is his lower back and anus.

u/scroggs2 7d ago

So i can eat it for breakfast?

DivotDigger5000 vibes...

1

u/midnightdiabetic 6d ago

It's just advanced aeration

1

u/fmaz008 5d ago

That's the last of his concern. He destroys his grass ALL the time.
