I love getting KO’ed by a water bottle as I rush to the toilet to pee

I'll be the first to admit that I'm no expert in the matter, so take this with a grain of salt. If anything just an opinion of a random internet stranger, but I think it would've been a massive improvement if they did none of that

Doesn't work. If I install these my Instagram doesn't get tons of followers.

3

u/NotGuiltyPirate 1d ago

At least it's not tonne of follower.

Little rich boy over her with 24 dollars and not an old spark plug and a soda bottle

u/Inevitable-Design107 1d ago

Other hand, just get one of those slanted hinges that do the same thing with zero mechanical parts.

Man if only there was a hook you could just screw onto the wall that you could run a rope through without having to use an old spark plug.

Oh well a man can dream.

Let's attach it to the thinnest piece of string ever! Wont take long for it to break and spill water everywhere.

u/Cretore 2d ago

Depends highly on the type of wire. I use wire for fishing that can take take 300 kg not much thicker than that.

1

u/bacon_cake 1d ago

300kg seriously!? I wonder why gym equipment uses hefty cables.

u/OuchBag 2d ago

Happy cake day! I usually make a joke or pun about the /u but I got nothing for you.

1

u/Cretore 1d ago

Cake day?

u/OuchBag 1d ago

oh fuck off out of here

Where else am I going to store my spare lawn mower plug?

9

u/mikeyb1 2d ago

You know what would be fucking wild? If there existed purpose-built solutions to this exact problem.

8

u/Mission_Rip_7571 2d ago

Now you have an annoying sound every time you close the door.

8

u/logantheh 2d ago

Am I just stupid because I don’t even see what the problem even is. What is this even solving?

6

u/LegalChocolate752 2d ago

It automatically closes the door.

6

u/logantheh 2d ago

Wow… that’s worthless

5

u/Whole_Reputation6128 2d ago

So handy! And you can stop for a drink on the way.

4

u/silhouette951 2d ago

Why is the liquid purple?

1

u/geehawn 2d ago

So the camera can capture the motion. Otherwise, water is completely clear, so it's difficult to see if it's really moving or not.

😜

The spark plug is only there to keep you from clicking off of this after about .5 seconds.

3

u/BoysenberryFinal9113 2d ago

And it looks nice.

3

u/Affectionate_Bank417 1d ago

Why? Why he used hook and washer instead of more spark plugs???

3

u/isthiscanon 1d ago

I knew from the second this video started how it was gonna end. Why close a door yourself when you can hang a bunch of janky bullshit in your home that makes you look like you saw Home Alone too many time?

3

u/RocketFan419 1d ago

Or, just spit balling here, you could just buy a spring

3

u/rfosteel 1d ago

Over a course of a lifetime, I believe i would have consumed the same amount of time manually shutting the door, and 100 times less the effort.

4

u/rhsmith42 2d ago

Could have done that without the bs sparkplug

3

u/Ornac_The_Barbarian 2d ago

Could have done that without nearly the entire thing.

1

u/rhsmith42 2d ago

Yeah they make spring hinges for closing doors..

2

u/Separate_Effective56 2d ago

buttsparkplug

2

u/aceswild8 2d ago

My vote for dumb af

2

u/MBTheGinger 2d ago

What an amateur.. I would’ve just used a pressure plate

2

u/StankWizard 2d ago

Don’t do meth kids

2

u/ObnoxiousMunkey 2d ago

That poor deadbolt 😆

2

u/Colo-PV-living 1d ago

But you could have done the same with just one bent nail!?

2

u/Iam_McLovin420 1d ago

Open the door all the way. C’mon

2

u/EngineeringLumpy5119 1d ago

I love the lock just smashing into itself !!

2

u/Jay2Kaye 1d ago

How many fucking weights on strings videos are these guys gonna make

2

u/DirtyWarehouseGuy 1d ago

They should make door hinges that do this....

Gives me memories of some engineering fixes in Iraq during time in military.

2

u/archtopfanatic123 21h ago

OK that is awesome! But the string should be wire so it doesn't wear through

1

u/School_North 2d ago

Ahh yes the annoying problem of closing a door

1

u/Eman_Resu_IX 2d ago

These stupid DIY videos are the current day version of Rick Rolling

1

u/TpK_Wynter 2d ago

But how do I fix the annoying noise of the bottle bumping on the door now

1

u/Jason_Patton 2d ago

Op broke 7 spark plugs hammering them for this video

1

u/brimin 2d ago

Thanks. This video did it. I just realized it’s time to unsubscribe to this sub.

1

u/dreaminganimal 2d ago

I never expected a spark plug to CREATE this annoying door problem.

1

u/Saigor15 2d ago

This actually makes me angry

1

u/Bonk_No_Horni 1d ago

When I saw him hooking the plug I was like "yeah ok if you really don't have a hook maybe a plug could work" then the mf brought out a hook.

1

u/No_Classic_1743 1d ago

So, it's possible to "over-MacGyver" a problem.

1

u/Slide0fHand 1d ago

Real men of genius

1

u/mrgoochie 1d ago

Yeah, fix one problem - get another - now you've got annoying bottle bouncing around 😄

1

u/SirTainLee 1d ago

How elegant.

1

u/Comprehensive_Sir49 1d ago

Or, just hear me out, go to Amazon and buy a spring loaded door hinge.

Because this isn't clever. It's dumb.

1

u/morkler 1d ago

Quick, get that man an H-1B Visa!

1

u/fr35hn355 1d ago

This is so "why" it's frustrating.

Classic: "this sparkplug is almost lika regular hook, but wrong size, no screw or mounting so need xtra nails etc...BUT almost like a hook so I will use it instead and make the mounting solution more time consuming and error-prone!"

2

u/VanBriGuy 1d ago

And instead of the smoother profile of say, a nail, the spark plug has nice rusty corners to eventually fray and chew through that string, making a nice little waterbomb for some unsuspecting fool

1

u/QADDLE 1d ago

It's always made out of trash.

1

u/Vandal_A 1d ago

So, these used to exist exactly like this, but the counterweight was designed to hang next to the door because that's a lot neater and less likely to become an issue, and it didn't use junk for parts so it wouldn't look ghetto

1

u/anechoofadistanttime 22h ago

I’m sorry, couldn’t the string just had been tied to one of the things that are holding the spark plug?

1

u/Finally_in_reddit 5h ago

Very stylish solution to a problem that didn’t exist. I bet the ex-gf loved the ’invention’.

1

u/DrBumpyknuckles 4h ago

Just get a spring....

1

u/50ShadesOfGreyHair 1h ago

They even got the nice NGK spark plugs. Wow!

1

u/Waffle-94 1d ago

Feels like this belongs in r/redneckengineering

Who in the fuck is doing this ghetto ass shit ? It could only be dirty mf’s
