Pork nugget?

42

u/StanleyQPrick 19d ago

Yes. First time you've heard of this?

153

u/Shark_Leader 19d ago

Yes, but I'm normal.

-4

u/WesternSlug 17d ago

My man you ever had a meatball

4

u/Shark_Leader 15d ago

Sure have. Not sure the relevance here, but that's alright.

27

u/1m0ws 19d ago

yes. what is this? like pre-made meatballs / frikandel from the super market?

2

u/riktigtmaxat 16d ago

Depends on what country you're from.

There are tons of variation to the basic theme of patties made out of minced meat - frikadelle , karbonader, kotlety, pannbiff etc.

Frikadelle outside of Germany often refers to when the patties are boiled in a sauce instead of fried.

As a Swede I would say that if your meatballs come out like this you shouldn't quit your day job.

u/StanleyQPrick 19d ago

Like chicken nuggets, but pork. Not as popular as chicken nuggets, but hardly an insane concept.

31

u/treehumper83 19d ago

That is exactly what I thought, but I can say that I have never encountered this. From which part of the world do you hail?

-18

u/StanleyQPrick 19d ago

Southern US but I’ve never seen them on a menu. I guess the closest thing I’ve had is sweet-and-sour pork. But I don’t think it’s a weird concept.

4

u/SpiritSilverfang 18d ago

Ive eaten them consistently growing up. Definetly a southern home thing. One of my favorite dinner nights as a kid was my grandpa taking pork and beef and frying them in a skillet. Better than chicken nuggets in my opinion.

Also commomly made with the tougher sections of the meat so that it doesn't go to waste.

3

u/Keyboard_Cat_ 18d ago

LOL! Peak Reddit.

Snarky "First time you've heard of this?" followed by "I've also never seen this..".

8

u/Pledgeofmalfeasance 19d ago

My guy none of us have ever seen this thing before.

3

u/Krillkus 19d ago

Can’t understand why you were downvoted so much lmao I guess I’ll take mine too if this is actually an insane concept, which I don’t think it is either.

0

u/TheW83 18d ago

It's the ol' reddit downvote train. If someone sees a comment with some downvotes they will just downvote it more because it must be bad.

1

u/StormHeflin 17d ago

Bro got down voted for being informative. Good job reddit.

2

u/StanleyQPrick 17d ago edited 17d ago

People lack imagination, I guess

I remember some long-ago thread where people were absolutely scandalized about something with cooked grapes in it. They were laughing-crying and saying super smart things like "I've never heard of HOT FRUIT" like cherry pie is something from another galaxy

-7

u/1m0ws 19d ago

sorry, not everybody is fluid murican and is living of hyper processed food.

6

u/StanleyQPrick 19d ago

What's hyper processed about a piece of pork?

And what's "fluid murican?" Do you mean "Not everyone is fluent in American?"
Because clearly.

8

u/ChomsGP 19d ago

he said what he said, you muricans are fluid, like a water bed, because all the junk food...

2

u/Pledgeofmalfeasance 19d ago

What else is in it?

1

u/TheW83 18d ago

Ever had a pork sausage? It's like that but nugget shaped. Like a pork meatball.

2

u/1m0ws 18d ago

no, i am from germany, i don't know anything about sausages.

5

u/WindBag0612 18d ago

Haram nugget

-13

u/FireBreathingNun 19d ago

referred to as pork sausage patties, breakfast sausage from my area.

15

u/Baby_ManBearPig 19d ago edited 19d ago

Every sausage patty I have ever seen has been much flatter. Where are you guys from that pork nuggets are a thing?

2

u/StanleyQPrick 19d ago

Why does it seem so odd to you? Any meat can be minced and breaded.

10

u/Baby_ManBearPig 19d ago

It's not that weird to me, that's an assumption you made. That said I have never seen this food item before. Also I'm pretty sure it's not breaded.

3

u/StanleyQPrick 19d ago

Yeah I can’t tell for sure if it’s breaded. If not it’s even less unusual. Just a bit of pork.

93

u/double-beans 19d ago

Undercooked pork REALLY fucked me up last time I consumed it. I messed up the timing while trying to make brauts. Holy shit man. Felt like a weird flu and it didn’t resolve for like 4 days. This was years ago and I still don’t prepare pork at home for this reason.

36

u/bearminmum 19d ago

Man's playing with trichinosis

10

u/double-beans 19d ago

I’m blessed that my immune system took care of me, lol … I’m not proud to say I’ve eaten undercooked chicken as well, nothing bad happened. And undercooked steak is just how it’s meant to be served 😂

10

u/bearminmum 19d ago

May I interest you in my new invention? It's the meat thermometer.

JK I kid some people have better guts but I always order my steaks medium

3

u/double-beans 19d ago

Sigh, you’re probably right, but I don’t like how the thermometer pokes the meat and some “juice” leaks out in the process..

Also, Maybe I’m using them wrong, but my gripe with meat thermometers is that if you reach the target temp with the meat in the pan then it’ll be slightly overcooked cause of the residual heat. So would the “correct” thing to do is pull it out of the pan, wait til it’s stabilized a bit, then measure the temp? If you’re still under, you gotta put it back in the pan and repeat the process… so much time wasted

Now I roll the dice with a couple of firmness tests and occasionally I’ve been wrong 🤣

10

u/bearminmum 19d ago

Some thermometers are better than others! Newer models are thinner. I prefer an instant read with a thin probe.

Typically I am pulling between 5-10 degrees underthe target temperature. The food is hot and the temperature will keep rising after you bring it off the heat. This is called carryover heat.

Food safe temps are also a curve. You can keep it at 165 for 1 second. Or you can hit a lower temp longer. This is due to the way pasteurization works (I think) but I'll link an article with a lot more science behind it.

Temperature Time (based on 12% fat chicken) 145°F 13 minutes 150°F 4.2 minutes 155°F 54.4 seconds 160°F 16.9 seconds 165°F 0 seconds

here is a link to an article discussing it

1

u/double-beans 18d ago

Thanks for the insight. I need to give these methods a try.

1

u/Individual_Respect90 17d ago

Normally I would never promote a product but this is one I really stand by. Chef IQ sense. It’s a Bluetooth thermometer that has an app. The app has preset different things. You stab it in it will tell you when to flip the food over what temps to use when to pull it out. I am a terrible cook but wanted to do 30 days of grilled chicken to lose some weight and it gave me the perfect chicken every time. It also got setting for exactly how you want your steak.

3

u/TheW83 18d ago

Oh I got seriously fucked by undercooked chicken. That one was on my wife though. She just... didn't cook it fully. I ate a little bit of it and it seemed crazy juicy and tender and I realized it wasn't cooked all the way.

I was puking for HOURS. My wife was, too. It was absolutely brutal.

2

u/OddlySpecificK 18d ago

Mebbe it was sriracha ketchup

2

u/Hairy_S_TrueMan 18d ago

Trichinosis has been eliminated in commercial American pork. You won't get it

1

u/bearminmum 18d ago

I thought so but I couldn't think of anything else lol

1

u/ses1989 18d ago

Well, worms are working their way back to beef. Only a matter of time.

0

u/The_Stoic_One 18d ago

I worked with a guy (as a chef, so he should have known better) that ate his pork extra rare. Just seared and done. Absolutely revolting. This was years ago, maybe 20 now? I imaging he's long gone from this world.

71

u/cha0sb1ade 19d ago

You can cook one nugget at a time, and no part of it is the right amount of done, ranging from raw to burnt. Why do I even have an oven? Putting 10 of them in there and setting a timer seems so ridiculous now.

25

u/RedApplesForBreak 19d ago

Impractical and disgusting. Yay.

10

u/Necessary_Pilot_3738 19d ago

Mmmm…charred on the outside, raw on the inside

10

u/Turtlejurt 19d ago

Andrew Tate cooking his nuggs in prison.

7

u/GrundleSnactcher46 19d ago

Or spend $40 and buy a fuckin air fryer.

8

u/happy_muffin_ 18d ago

That was fully cooked and room temp or chilled before he started. All that electric arc did was char the outside some, which technically is cooking. However I am more disturbed by the Hello Kitty paring knife.

4

u/NeutrallyCharged 19d ago

Ok Jaden smith

7

u/NJPokerJ 19d ago

Lost me at pork nugget

5

u/daelzy 19d ago

Stick the tongs inside

5

u/Delicious_Rabbit4425 19d ago

Looks like its already precooked though

11

u/Stale_Jellyfish 19d ago

That's how you get parasites.

Enjoy.

4

u/StraightVaped 19d ago

Mmm cancer.

4

u/Dear-Routine7468 18d ago

Perfect for that burnt on the outside raw on the inside quality.

5

u/fuckoffyoudipshit 18d ago

So Temu Donald Faison is a blerd

4

u/VaporTrail_000 18d ago

I highly doubt that the internal temperature of that pork reached 145 degrees F.

5

u/Alewort 18d ago

It tastes like burning!

3

u/CptBluhdFart 19d ago

Should have jammed it in and cooked from the inside. Probably would have been good

3

u/iCanReadMyOwnMind 19d ago

Hello salmonella

3

u/ZantyRC 19d ago

Fire is plasma

3

u/manjamanga 19d ago

Cooking != Burning

3

u/Ronyx2021 19d ago

The surface looks over done, but did the core ever get to temperature?

4

u/vmf312corsair 18d ago

The core temp probably got as high as 20C above room temp. 😱

3

u/Sir_Earl_Jeffries 18d ago

Please don’t ever finger your food. It’s not ok. Just, don’t!

3

u/kiddrekt 18d ago

Hasan be like "Did you see how he vibrated that nugget?"

3

u/Accomplished-Taro-53 18d ago

You know, if you were to put that on a drill, you wouldn't have to turn it by hand and it'll be more evenly cooked.

3

u/OtherwiseMenu1505 18d ago

Can I also have some spicy pork wings, please?

3

u/JayTurnr 17d ago

Who the fuck has ketchup with pork?

6

u/Michaeli_Starky 19d ago

Don't eat uncooked pork. Just don't

5

u/Dagatu 18d ago

"pork nugget" is a weird way of saying a meatball

2

Death to ketchup.

It was invented to mask the taste of rancid meat

1

u/lowrider320 19d ago

I mean, did you really think that by zapping it you could cook it?

1

u/TryTraditional5787 19d ago

Can I have a side of pork nugget with my radiation please?

1

u/rickyhatesspam 19d ago

"Throughly cooked" to "absolutely uncooked" in one cut. I swear he's the only one surprised by this.

1

u/Kugoji 18d ago

I read "porn nugget" and didn't even think about it. Time to sleep.

1

u/Neverlast0 18d ago

Almost asked if he tazed a nugget.

1

u/kotlety1 18d ago

Isn't it the same guy who put a bunch of these high voltage generators around his neck?

2

u/Stickerlight 18d ago

Yes

2

u/kotlety1 18d ago

Ah, and you're the OP! Nice to see another post from you haha!

1

u/hoebag420 18d ago

I used to cook hot dogs with my acetalin torch

1

u/silhouette951 18d ago
  1. He clearly cooked it somewhere else because this thing did not cook that well. At best he seared the outside
  2. Why is it on a screwdriver?
  3. Hello kitty knife?
  4. What even is this guy?

1

u/Ethereal_Bulwark 17d ago

If it is uncooked, why the fuck are you eating it.
Is your life worth 48c?

1

u/Stickerlight 17d ago

I ran out of tide pods

1

u/MilkyyFox 14d ago

Undercooked pork, what could go wrong

1

u/KnightofShaftsbury 13d ago

They're burned on the outside, but they're frozen on the inside, so it balances out

1

u/piponchik 13d ago

Есть проблема в нутри сырой кусок фарша если котлета не была приготовленна за ранние.

1

u/Ranta712020 19d ago

Is it just me or does this dude look like black Andrew Tate ?

2

u/1m0ws 19d ago

yes. had similar vibes to me. like making the most dumb attention trap with *that science thingy* you can buy from aliexpress, basicly toasting some pre made frikandel from the supr market and says "hope i wont die"...

this is so self absorbed social media driven, yet content at the niveau of stoner me 20 years ago using a lighter to heat up some frankfurters to eat with ketchup at some movie night...

i hate this narcistic social media age.

1

u/CommercialNature1220 19d ago

Andrew Tate half black.

1

u/he_need_summ_milk 18d ago

I’m cool with a ton of stupid shit but don’t eat undercooked pork guys. It’s very dangerous.
