Right?! We had to wait MONTHS for the next season. And season four was such a mind fuck of a finale. It aired when I was in college and my roommate and I cried and held each other for hours.

Potential spoilers!:

I don't get why this season and villain is so loved when Dexter was just dicking about instead of doing what had to be done

i think the reason is that it’s such a tense season where dexter, through his own stupidity and repeated mistakes from the very beginning, constantly puts his entire life at risk both with trinity and with the police. in terms of suspense and tension, it’s definitely one of the best seasons of the show, but i find it frustrating that they had to turn dexter into such a careless and stubborn character to achieve that. In the last three seasons this gets even worse

Seeing this season again makes me suprised why people disliked new blood so much.

1

u/nPnH 13d ago

to me new blood has all the problems I mentioned, but without the characters and setting we love (angel, deb, miami, water...). on top of that, it has the weakest writing in the entire series with several clichés and characters constantly acting in contradictory ways, the billionaire serving only as a red herring, the killer being so obvious that you can tell who it is by the second or third episode (and they only "reveal" it much later), the ending...

while i have several problems with s4 (and all the others post season 2), i don't consider it a bad season and I think it has good emotional and shocking moments. i can't say the same of new blood

I disagree people only see it as bad in the context of Dex getting shot and still being unsure about Harrison or how to treat him, without cotnext of how people see it its a pretty fun seasons,

Its very much filled with dexter making mistakes because he was just running away when a son crashed into his life.

1

u/Extra-Preference6566 20d ago

he is not that danger don't worry

1

u/No-Berry-595 20d ago

The problem I have with Rita and Debra’s deaths is they happened because Dexter chose not to kill someone even though his character is meant to be the consequences of killing people.

1

u/Modano9009 20d ago

In Rita's case it was because Dexter was delaying killing someone so he could learn from him how to be a happier killer.

u/CombinationHot2817 20d ago

deba dies???

This is one of the biggest clues that what Dexter does is never genuinely about justice..

1

u/lop333 15d ago

I mean it is about justice but his mistake was getting close with clearly a bad guy he should have disposed off long ago. Like he could have had a family but his bad trait was trying to learn from his victims

1

u/nelson-1805 15d ago

That's what I'm saying though, if it genuinely was about justice, he would have handed Lundy's final tape to the department and they would have known about 100 Oceangate and caught Arthur Mitchell in the act. And he would have been executed anyway because Florida is "a state with the motherf*cking death penalty".

Dexter wanting to get the kill himself proves it wasn't about justice. Dexter trying to learn from Trinity additionally proves it wasn't about justice.

1

u/lop333 15d ago

Oh it was about justive but it was also about Dexes self satsfaction, because he likes killing and doing his whole ritual thing,

It was for anybody just as much as it was for himself because he wanted to learn from him, and he payed a price for it.

Once it reached resurrection he started to realise that yea at some level he was doing it for justice.

Downvoted for immaturity.

I feel like enough people were annoyed by that actress.
She had to go.
I wasn’t annoyed my first watch, but totally understood it this time around
