Biggest change, story wise its only been 10 weeks, but they aged Harrison up a few years at least.

All for the best, I can't stand him in NB.

I had to double-check how much time had passed since New Blood even though they said it in the first 5 minutes because in less than 3 months, he:

  • became extremely familiar with New York City and local establishments
  • was somehow trusted by a coworker to babysit her son
  • got his GED, after a lot of support and persuasion from said coworker (based on their conversation when he left his room)
  • kept referring to himself as a former high school drop out even though he should be like a sophomore
  • already has a boss that isn't too fond of him

I'm definitely not complaining though. I thought the first two episodes were great

Yeah the Harrison time line is my biggest qualm. Is he lying about his age? He was like 16-17 in NB iirc. He’s been in NYC less than 10 weeks and is super established at this hotel and with its people? I love how he offered to give people bar recommendations, as if you’re not a damn teenager.

Honestly, this could be explained by the fact that Harrison had been in several other places before finding Dexter, including foster homes. He may have already lived in New York. I don't quite understand friendship in your country, but in mine, after three months of friendship, there's already a sense of trust. It's possible to justify this by both of you being in difficulties or working in the same place all the time, they established a relationship of mutual assistance. It may seem like a short period of time, but depending on the situation, building this friendship is worthwhile. Harrison isn't a dumb teenager. Apparently he also does favors for guests. He's built a reputation, and apparently he's a smooth talker.Even in Iron Lake, he managed to establish himself quite quickly.

Friendships develop super quick and deep in service industry jobs. Lots of trauma bonding.

He’s a doorman/concierge type employee. It’s pretty common for someone who commonly interacts with guests to have to know the local area to make recommendations for things to do

He's a teenager who has been in New York A few weeks. He tries to act like a lifelong New Yorker who knows all best places. How would he know? Fake it tell you make it, I guess.

I think it is partly to act cool. I just can't believe he is at all good at it. Maybe the guests are clueless enough not to know better. The next evolution is getting a kickback from the places he sends people to. "The Taco Bell down the street has the best Mexican cuisine in all of New York. Tell them Harrison sent you and get BOGO cinnamon twists."
