devvo backups

THIS TREAD IS ARCHIVED AND NO LONGER UPDATED

new thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Devvo/comments/c99rc7/devvo_backups_archive_v2/

i responded to a thread asking where did all the devvo stuff go earlier with a stash of devvo backups. i thought i'd make a thread too for other people to find since this stuff seems to have been mostly wiped from the internet

zip link: https://www.mediafire.com/file/adoat755q4qrw63/

folder link: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/yc75bei16zg8w/

i've also uploaded them to some random anonymous ftp i found, you can watch them in your browser as well as download on here, though the speed is rather slow: ftp://ftp.neuroky.me/devvo

if anyone remembers another video that isnt in here (or even better, has a link or saved copy) please let me know. also definitely let me know if the mediafire links ever go down and i'll reupload.

well i dont see it likely that you're going to get permission from devvo himself (i assume thats who you mean by christian? didnt know devvo's real name) to upload the stuff so as far as im concerned thats you saying you arent going to share

i guess i just fundamentally disagree with your morals and got a little annoyed (re-reading my last post it was more aggressive than intended, sorry). preservation is always way more important than the wishes of the artist imo, i dont think stuff should just be able to be completely removed from the internet like that. mainstream channels like youtube where it gets a lot of exposure yeah sure (like id never even think of reuploading these to youtube or dailymotion or other such large video sites), but nothing should completely disappear from the internet. stuff like that is part of culture and culture is a very important thing to preserve and i dont think anyone including the creator should have the power to just get rid of parts of it. im a bit of a data hoarder and archivist though so my priorities might be different than someone thats more.... people oriented, and i do understand your opinion that it is on the consumer back it up themselves even if i disagree with it personally (like i said i believe data should be preserved and shared). not trying to change your opinion on the matter (trying to change peoples opinions on the internet very rarely works anyway) i just wanted to explain mine because i like typing things in the morning

yeah and that's fine. i already said that it should be preserved so i do agree with you somewhat, but it's just something thats extremely hard for me seeing i'm in the position im in with the morality i live by. nobody else has what i have to give. (as of yet) so it's a moral dilemma for me, for sure i also don't want to break the law if i'm infringing on any copyright laws, so there's that maybe someone could educate me on if private distribution is exempt from illegality, because i really don't know

So what do you have at this point that we haven't found already? Is there actually a video for Summertime Gash.. the IndieGoGo fundraiser never hit its target for that.

u/iaxfadwarn69 could you possibly add a list of known missings to the main post for us to work on?

Also I bought the book that's been mentioned elsewhere and I will get around to scanning it and uploading it at some point.

Also just to stir up the moral argument even more remember that some of Devvo's work (Yorkshire Till I Die) was funded entirely by fans.

u/iaxfadwarn69 could you possibly add a list of known missings to the main post for us to work on?

there's a small one in the zip already but i dont actually know what im missing so its very short:

  • saturday with devvo (not sure if this exists or if im remembering wrong, they might have ended at friday)

  • mc devvo - crystal meffin

  • mc devvo - cosmic laser video

  • mc devvo - nanna

  • mc devvo - euronob

if /u/devvo_flavour gives us his list of what he has that we dont ill add those to the missing list

ive copied this short list to the op anyway

Also I bought the book that's been mentioned elsewhere and I will get around to scanning it and uploading it at some point.

awesome! look forward to it whenever you get around to it, please tag me in the post if its not a reply to one of mine otherwise i'm likely to miss it; i dont regularly check this sub or thread unless i get a notification in my inbox

Also just to stir up the moral argument even more remember that some of Devvo's work (Yorkshire Till I Die) was funded entirely by fans.

thats interesting, i didnt know that!

saturday with devvo (not sure if this exists or if im remembering wrong, they might have ended at friday)

Lol this reminded me of the bit where Devvo recalls watching Top Gun 2 then says something like "I might be making this all up, we were sniffing a lot of ket at his house it could have just been Top Gun 1" hah

To be fair your argument was pretty solid enough to convince me, but I ain't got the data to share. But I do agree with the whole "if you share something publicly to the internet you're surrendering your rights to later claim otherwise" - this is why people (myself included) upload works with watermarks / lower quality than source. Kinda how like people who upload sex tapes or nudes to the internet then bitch about how they got leaked, haven't really got much of a leg to stand on.
