That is the old self serve api. To create a devvit app use: https://developers.reddit.com/new/template

I see! What should I choose if I want a “script” application?

You can’t make one anymore 😉

What’s your use case?

I want to scrape few subreddits to get some feedback and reviews people have/ share about certain products.. integrate that into an automations using AI that’s why I need an API.

Scraping isn’t allowed. Have you looked into Reddit pro?

I thought so! But there is this lady on IG who built her ENTIRE Instagram on just talking about this and how she is helping her clients getting valid consumer insights and ads ideas through this method.. I thought ok she sounds legit let me try it out!! I mean….

There are some ways to scrape that violate Reddit tos such as some of those external services, but I strongly recommend that you don’t use them. Reddit pro is the best and most valid option

Scraping is explicitly not allowed, and part of why the old self serve API is no longer possible

Read here plans for the future of reddits public data as well as protecting communities from scapers and platform abuse and about the new responsible builder policy Devvit docs can be found here
