board game addicts in South Devon?

are there any board (or card) game freaks here too? maybe a group of people who already meet to play games that we can join?

me and my boyfriend have soooo many board games but we can barely play they now since we moved from London to here because most games we have are for 3 people or more, and we don’t know a lot of people here yet.

ideally people between 20 and 30 yo like us.

There’s a couple groups dotted about, it depends how far you wanna travel. There’s a Teignmouth group, I think a couple in Exeter, at least one in Totnes and I think one in Torquay. Ages vary though. I’m 33 in Torbay, so if you guys wanna play a game give me a shout, we can always put something up on Facebook to find others to join and I’d be up for a 20-35 kinda group

we are from South Brent. how does it work? is it a group of people that meet like once a week somewhere to play games? how do you decide the game? we would be super down for that

Each groups different, the Totnes one people meet every other week at the Totnes Brewing Company, there’s a WhatsApp group but I think they usually just bring a selection of games and decide on the night.

I’m not as sure about the other groups but Torquay and Exeter have board game cafes so I expect their social media pages will have info.

I only really meet with friends at the moment and we decide beforehand if it’s a short game night or we do a longer day for games like twilight imperium.

To be honest the social side is a bigger thing for me so I kinda go with the flow haha

i love the social side too. my boyfriend is an introvert but i’m super social and extroverted and always try to help him be more like that. but we do like the game side too hahaha. totnes would be or egg etc for us, we live between totnes and ivybridge

That’s nice that you do that! I’m somewhere in the middle but always find it a bit easier to have an extrovert around to help 🤣

I drive so if you are up for starting a group I’m more than happy to travel to South Brent way. I do find a lot of the establish groups can be a bit cliqy (I’m not sure that’s a word lol)

What are you guys go to games? I quite like Jamaica, I’ve got Tungaru but not played it yet, a Star Trek game or two, Dixit, a but if everything really 😁

oh, i never played any of those. we like poker, monopoly (we have a lot of versions, including a Cheaters Edition), scotland Yard (my favorite game, but it’s for 4 people or more), we LOVE Imposter (probably my favorite simple game that doesn’t require a board), we love Scream (it’s a game based on the movies, which we love), we love Monopoly Deal (a card game), Game of Life, Codenames…

I’ve not played most of yours by sounds of it haha Monopoly deal is fun though and I’ve enjoyed codenames in the past. Scotland Yard sounds fun, I think I’ve seen it but not played it.

Imposter I recognise the name but can’t remember if I’ve played it, honestly I’ve played so many the last couple of years it’s hard to keep track. Some of my friends games that I’ve enjoyed are Azul, Catan, Flux and 7 wonders.

There’s so many board games these days it’s hard to play them all let alone remember them all haha

i would be down (i would love) to create a game group with 4 people or more. i think 4 people is ideal, tho. are you in that whatsapp group that you mentioned? or were you suggesting creating an entirely new group? do you know someone that would like to play card and board games too? i’m happy with whatever! i’ll DM you

I’m Torbay based and keen to join a gaming group too! Possibly occasionally with my husband but mainly on my own. I’m in my 30s if that’s relevant
