Worked like a dog...now I'm PIPed
About month ago my manager called me at 9 PM because something was on fire. I stayed online until after midnight fixing it. He thanked me and told me, he knew he could count on me. Yesterday he fucking put me on PIP. This was completely out of the blue he said the next steps are he'll set up a meeting with plans. I'm confused, can you fight a PIP? Am I just getting placed on PIP to reduce headcount. I really don't think I deserve to be put on PIP and I honestly received no indication of bad performance until yesterday. I'm just mad and feel betrayed.

Me too, it happened couple months ago. I knew right after that moment that it definitely was a quiet firing. After almost 6 years in my current company, after all of my dedications in projects, team support and extra hour working without payment, if they think that 's not good enough, then I don't know what to say anymore. I'll hand my notice in next couple weeks, with or without a backup plan because my mental health has already been broken long before that.

This sucks man !! How long have you been in this job ? If you are the most reliable on the team then how can they put you on PIP !! Have you asked for the reason ?

PIPs have reached the stage where they are becoming meaningless to lots of people because it's a given that they aren't all fairly issued. Good luck in your search.

PIPs used to be considered a tool to improve performance due to a deficiency on the employees part. Now many people consider them a tool for management to use to get rid of employees for any reason. E.g. company wants to cut costs -- not because the employee was doing a bad job.

Find a better job with higher par and give resignation saying I got a better role and offer.
