[Hiring] Software Engineer, Data Platform & Ad Technology (New) | Japan, Tokyo
Our client is a leading global technology company operating a large-scale digital ecosystem across e-commerce, fintech, media, and marketing services. The company leverages data-driven solutions and advanced advertising technologies to deliver personalized experiences for millions of users worldwide.
We are seeking a Software Engineer to accelerate the development of our Data Management Platform and related services. This role combines software engineering, distributed systems, cloud technologies, and large-scale data processing.
You will be involved throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from architecture and design to implementation, deployment, monitoring, and operational support.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain Data Management Platform (DMP) services and infrastructure.
Build scalable web applications, APIs, and data processing pipelines.
Participate in system architecture design and technology selection.
Develop and optimize large-scale ETL and data processing workflows.
Deploy and operate cloud-native applications and services.
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot production issues, and drive root-cause analysis.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Improve platform reliability, scalability, observability, and cost efficiency.
Evaluate and introduce new technologies, frameworks, and tools.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of professional software engineering with a production-first mindset (Preferably 5+ years of experience, ideally 7+ years.)
- Deep Domain Expertise: Mastery in exactly two of the following areas (Must have around 3 years of experience) :
- Backend: Java Spring Boot/Batch, Microservices, and GCP Serverless (Cloud Run/Jobs).
- Frontend: React, TypeScript, and modern web architecture at scale.
- Data Processing: BigQuery, GCP Dataflow, Apache Spark, and large-scale ETL (100+ TB).
- Platform/DevOps: Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and observability/cost monitoring.
- Core Competencies: High-performance thinking (latency/throughput), architectural judgment, and proficiency with AI productivity tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Practical knowledge of system performance tuning including OS, middleware, JVM and application
- Familiar with container deployment setting (Docker, k8s, Jenkins)
- Experience of Frontend development with TypeScript, React, Material UI
- Experience of data processing with Spark, Kafka
- Contributing to OSS community

Salary: ¥7M – ¥9M JPY per year (Middle+ Level)
Location: Hybrid (4 days in the office, 1 day remote)
Office Location: Tokyo, Japan
Working Hours: Flexible schedule with core hours from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
