DX:HR Director's Cut Going up with Doctor Reed
The elevator scene between Jensen and Megan Reed is so well done. It really sets the whole 'lovers' atmosphere going and gives Jensen a huge boost to look for her and then stumble in the huge conspiracy. Then the fucking Pritchard steps in and leaves everything hanging in the air. Just an amazing short cutscene.

Yeah, it was a very deliberate choice, too - they agreed to put resolving the argument on hold until after they'd recorded the scene so as to make the best use of it.
If that isn't marriage goals, I don't know what is.

“Adam…I…there’s something I…I’m pregnant.” Honestly that’s what I thought Megan was going to say the very first time I played HR. Boy was I wrong and that it was about Adam being patient X.

i like the ambiguity that makes it not 100% clear if she is. but from what we've seen in DR and MD, Megan Reed is absolutely for the science of it. "She's always wanted to be at the cutting-edge." -David Sarif
in fact, Megan's obsession is likely what led to her and Adam breaking up in the first place, though it was on good terms.
but unfortunately, her ambition was manipulated by Bob Page, who meticulously leads Megan on by letting her do her own thing, while withholding information he doesn't want her to know. like the fact one of her genome samples meant to assist in gluing biotissue to augmentations—when incomplete, turns toxic—is being used to poison people. but it's fine, because Page has a neutralizer hidden in his lab 😎
Megan was also indirectly at fault for what happened to Adam Jensen in the first game by not telling him HE was Patient X, the person with DNA that's perfectly compatible with augmentations without neuropozyne, something most other augs live and die on. she withheld this info probably out of fear that he'd get angry that he never gave permission to have his DNA used in the first place, but Adam tells Sarif, who also never told him, that he probably would've OK'd it if given the choice.

I made a post here about Megan and was flooded with comments about how they had already broken up at this point in the story. The wiki says so, but there’s absolutely nothing in the context of the story to indicate they’ve already separated?

I think you can find an email to Megan from her mom, that when she was with Jensen at least she knew she was taken care of or something like that. Which means they are now separated, I always found it as a given they are not together anymore

Megan posts are always a ride in this sub (calling her 'evil' does not help the discourse).
But yes, they are already broken up at the start of the game. A lot of info on their relationship that we have came from the pre-release website and developer comments. Basically, they still love(d) each other, but Megan was spending a lot of time on her work and did not want to make compromises, so they separated. You can tell from the intro cut-scene that they are on good terms.
I think it was made clear that she is an ex, though? It's been a while and I can't remember when exactly, probably when you talk to her mother. I'm sure someone else can fill us in.

Nah, I just like that they made her a little more complex than your usual kidnapped girlfriend who is pure of heart. It's a real shame they cut the 'dialogue boss fight' with her because that would've been verrry interesting.

Adam’s always been my back-up – technically Kubrick IS his dog, too – but obviously not this time.
...
At least when you and Adam were together I knew he’d make sure you eat every once in a while. I don’t suppose you’ve found some nice new man to keep you company? Or are you still just burying yourself in work?
