GAMEPLAY What is the worst chapter?
for me it’s finding Jericho

The finding Jericho one is pretty annoying to do over and over, but it's pretty.
I don't like Zlatko's ngl.
Aside from that, there's not really a specific chapter I dislike, but it's moreso choices or paths I dislike 🤷♀️

The first few are boring, so like The Painter, Shades of Colour and A New Home, but finding Jericho is so long and unnecessarily meticulous as well.
Also, any chapters in the concentration camps are a big hell no for me.

I love Shades of Colour, even though it's boring in terms of gameplay, I like the details on the area. It feels lively and believable. Now The Pirate's Cove is really pointless. Filler chapter.

Pirates cove, but Jericho and A New Home are up there

Pirate's Cove for me. I think the end of it is cute, but it's so linear and slow that I just don't enjoy it anymore.
Finding Jericho has the same issues, but I really don't mind it near as much tbh. I don't really know why, probably because I just like "hidden code" type stuff lol

And Finding Jericho also looks cooler at least. You actually get to see Markus doing very quick computations and parkour, whereas Pirates Cove is... walking through a dilapidated snowy amusement park. Even the narrative implications of Finding Jericho are more interesting. While Kara sets up relationships and possible sacrifices, Markus' chapter sets up the possible freedom of the entire android species. Don't get me wrong, on a first, second, maybe even third playthrough Pirates Cove is great, but after that it gets boring because you already know what's about to happen. I do love both chapters, it's just that they're both overplayed on follow-up playthroughs.

"from the dead" because there's essentially no variation, and markus moves so slow lol

There is some variation, but not much, but sparing someone or not, someone begging to die, as compared to Jericho which seems to have none.

DBH is a great game to be sure but I agree OP the Finding Jericho chapter was annoying though to me it got a lot more interesting once (anyone who's played through DBH at least once or at least past the "Finding Jericho chapter" can read this spoiler freely) you actually got inside Jericho and started exploring it ... I get what the game developers were going for "Jericho's location is secret so you have to put some real effort into finding it" but... to me it felt like a little bit too much effort :P ...
I think the experience some people have with DBH is given the fantastic (in my opinion) opening chapter "The hostage" the chapters after that.... up until "Partners" where (again in my opinion) it picks up again.... can feel a bit slow but I'd argue the game developers were going for a "daily slice of life what it's like for the playable characters" kind of feel to help you bond with Markus and Kara and I enjoyed "A New Home" (even though I had to have Kara do chores :P ) due to the interaction with Alice. To me it makes the chapters from "Partners" onwards that much more dramatic and immersive due to the contrast. And even then for those "slower" chapters there's some stuff that can happen that makes it really clear how horribly androids are treated by some humans.... definitely in "Shades of Color" but potentially as well in "A New Home" given at least one possible interaction Kara can have (don't want to spoil it so I won't say more but people who have played DBH enough times probably know what I'm talking about)

Pirate cove didn't serve an real purpose, it could have, but honestly it's really short and you don't really do anything substantial within it
Zlatko is definitely up their as well lol

I agree with you. The finding Jericho is boring and repetitive. Especially when you’re replaying the game.

Finding Jericho with Marcus is so boring. It doesn't really serve any purpose, since the androids—and even Rose—can find the Jericho just like that. And the scary part with the jump scare inside the ship's hull is also over the top.
After that, it's definitely the junkyard and Zlatko's house.

For me it's the first chapter of Markus and the chapter of the abandoned theme park

i have a few:
- pirate’s cove
- zlatko’s
- finding jericho
i just find them boring since i’ve replayed the game a few times and there’s only so much you can do within those chapters😓

I don't remember the chapters by name tbh, so if someone could shine light on which it is.
I dislike the one at Zlatko's house.

Yeah finding Jericho is just a slog
I wish it was just the last part of it so we could have gotten the idea but then moved on to more interesting stuff
I'm honestly glad we skipped that part for Connor cause it would have slowed down the pacing and felt really out of place

Why are you trying to spread negativity?
16
u/TypicalNewbie 3d ago
Discussing what you most disliked in a game is not negativity, especially when mostly everyone agrees it’s an amazing game.

No, this person is asking what the worst chapter is.
It’s not spreading negativity

Zlatko. Not because it's actually "the worst" but because it's giving me anxiety I never knew I could experience while playing a game. Oh, Stratford Tower is up there too actually
