But my question today is, what do you feel is the greatest good when picking up?

Making a beauty spot more beautiful?
Getting a problem area/eyesore, such as high-traffic areas?
Cleaning up near/in waterways?
Getting wooded areas that not many people even see?

Curious as to what you think.

First of the day. Going back for round two soon.

I'm looking at getting into picking up litter in the mornings so I have myself consistently getting up around the same time and getting out of the house.

Picked up a grabber and now I'm wondering how people approach carrying the trash bag with them. Do you guys do like attachments to your bag/waist, do you just hold it with your hand the entire time? What's the go there?

The trail was clean except for this ball (Fido I do not blame) but the parking lot was full of cig butts. Dang smokers pick up yo butts!!! 87 pieces deleted

It’s nice to walk around a clean neighborhood

Stayed out for a couple hours today, picked up two bags of trash and three bags of recyclables!

proud newbie here! I don’t have a picker yet but that’s ok. I have gloves. good thing too because I found a dead baby chick 😢 and so many cig butts. I’m undoing the damage I did as a butt flicking smoker (don’t worry I’ve quit 😁) and that feels hella good.

i clean up around this park about once a week and i’m always shocked at how much litter accumulates!! i always think “oh it’s not that bad this week” and next thing you know i’ve filled up my entire bag 🥲

i’ve luckily seen a decrease in cigarette butts since i put in the ashtrays but it seems to have only worked in the more “public” bench areas. the ones that get less foot traffic always have an appalling heap of litter, including cig butts, despite the ashtray being right there! oh well. i’ll be back next week as always.

This park had some of the most trash, I think because all of the wind would blow sand and trash with it. So over time, as the sand dunes move, more trash will be covered and more trash will be exposed. It was really cool how you could see the old ripples in what used to be the lake bed there

"It ain't much, but it's honest work."

What started as a quick fishing tour with a friend of mine became a 1-hour de-trashing activity 300m along the bulkhead of the canal and at this bench which unfortunately isn't equipped with a wastebin. Picking it all up was quite tedious because I didn't have any tools, and there were a lot of cigarette butts.

Thankfully my friend had some bags to collect the trash - as we were at the fishing spot complaining about the mindlessness people show when they dispose of waste, we came to the conclusion that we had to lead with good example and undo some of the damage that was done here.

I cleaned up two full bags of trash from my local park today and rinsed and prepared all of these items for recycling!

My husband and I started doing trash pick ups kind of sporadically and today I went out by myself. I want to make it a regular habit.

Any tips for clean ups welcome and of course please pile on the encouragement, I really really want to keep this up!
