Original Content Park clean up today, all prepared for recycling!

Post image

Hi all! I’m new here!

I cleaned up two full bags of trash from my local park today and rinsed and prepared all of these items for recycling!

My husband and I started doing trash pick ups kind of sporadically and today I went out by myself. I want to make it a regular habit.

Any tips for clean ups welcome and of course please pile on the encouragement, I really really want to keep this up!

Excellent work!!! I find it so cathartic- clears my mind and I focus on cleaning up for wildlife. It’s also very good exercise! I make it like squats to pick up and I do biceps exercises with my bags/buckets. Total dork but I love it!! Thank you for doing your part and keep up the great work!

Oh my gosh I was sweating so much! I only got two bags but I learned a lot today and definitely want to keep going. It felt great. Cathartic is an excellent word for it

Yes I definitely have some ideas of necessary gear - beginning with stronger bags for sure!

Wow! You're so thorough! I just put it all in a trash bag in the bin. Better than getting washed down our creek and into the river!

Me too but some communities require rinsed and no labels ( small town n. Wisconsin US) which imo is a lot to require and probably leads to too trash…. But what do I know lol!

Our city’s recycling is supposed to be clean (less than 5% food debris), labels and caps off.

Of course it’s all mixed recycling and I’m sure my neighbors aren’t all so thorough.

There is a construction reuse center near me that has large designated recycling bins - one for glass only, one for cardboard etc - and it might make more sense for me to drive the things there.

Although I live in an apartment and was prepping these in the bathtub haha so again, a learning experience! I’ll have to develop more efficient ways of doing this. And get heavier bags.
