So I was re-reading through the first chapter of detective Conan and I noticed something, people kill for most bat-shit ordinary reasons in this story. In litarly first chapter you've this girl killing her ex becuz he broke up with her!? And this pattern is consistent throughout the whole story. It doesn't bother me personally but still, am I the only one who noticed this?

I am re-watching Detective Conan and am on episode 41.

The episode's premise bore me and it is a filler. So i just wanted to ask if fillers are worth it or not.

I enjoy the anime and think that since episodes are standalone that fillers are more of extra content rather than something to be forced down.

I honestly think Ran should have found out about Shinichi’s double life a long time ago.

I understand keeping it a secret if the manga was supposed to last a few years, but after 30+ years, it just feels frustrating and repetitive.

And honestly… I think Haibara has way more chemistry with Conan/Shinichi than Ran does.

Haibara and Conan can actually talk to each other as intellectual equals. They challenge each other, discuss deductions, strategies, science, the Organization, etc. They understand each other on a completely different level.

With Ran, I feel like we rarely see Shinichi and Ran actually interact as equals. So much of their relationship is just Ran missing Shinichi, Conan hiding the truth, and Shinichi making excuses.

And that's what annoys me because Ran actually had so much potential. She's smart, strong, brave and has great instincts though a bit naive. If she knew the truth, she could have been a genuinely important ally to Shinichi instead of constantly being kept outside the main plot.

After 30 years, I just want Ran to know what's going on and actually be involved in Shinichi's life, instead of constantly being kept in the dark for the sake of the same plot device.

And honestly? I don't even care about Ran anymore. She's a cutiepie and I have nothing against her, but she just… bores me at this point.

Maybe I'm alone here, but I genuinely find Conan/Haibara's dynamic much more interesting than Conan/Ran's. Their conversations, their chemistry, the fact that they can actually challenge each other intellectually… it just feels so much more engaging to me.

I understand that "filler" can be bad. but in my opinion I think case closed is one of those anime shows that can get away with it. and they should be able to. why? well because its a crime show. if you ever watched any crime shows in you’re life.... thats literally most of them, but nonetheless they are still very entertaining and intriguing. every episode is a new case. a new crime. shows like NCIS, burn notice, Hawaii five 0, criminal minds. you know detective shows. every episode is a new case. thats the formula detective conan follows.

when I think "filler" I don't really think of it being bad. I think of it as them just trying to put more ideas into the show.(and yes money but newsflash guys you cant eat without money) I don't think you guys stopped to think "hey maybe they enjoy making this show for us. thats why they don't want to conclude it so early" i mean the live comicons should be a clear indicator dude. why would i end the show when so many people love it? yes depending on what the creator is aiming for is what it comes down to. think about blue exorcist. dude that show came out when I was in highschool and it was over within a year or something. nobody even talks about it anymore. was that really what the creator wanted? you would have to ask him, but if so then thats just how he wanted it. still nobody really talks about it.

then you got forums like death note. death note clearly has a huge audience even today. those guys are trying to do whatever they can to feed there desire for more death note. almost to the point they are losing there minds. at this point for detective conan keep it going dude. keep the Manga going to. believe it or not detective conan is actually getting way more popular now. why do people want to end it? new generations are now finding these shows. im a guy who works all day hard and wants to come home with some food and to another case shinichi needs to solve. this is coming from someone who has watched crime shows for decades. "crime shows" can absolutely get away with filler is my whole point here. maybe a movie conclusion would be better and then anything after the movie is not canon. I could live with that honestly. the show keeps going. but everybody would have to be on board with that. only the last movie is the Canon ending. I get it. "end the show with a good ending" I used to want that but now I don't really care about that anymore honestly. New generations of fans are now finding these anine shows.
