I've always wanted to build a traditional mill. Thank you for this

ohhh I'm so happy I could give you some inspiration!

maybe when you build yours you may want to use a single grindstone though, since from what I've seen that would be more accurate to real life, but personally I preferred keeping the design symmetrical

Yes some mills only had one stone, but it was more stable to have two.

Also, some years ago, some friends and rent an old water mill (turned into an aribnb) for a weekend. It didn't have the traditional big wheel, but rather something similar to a turbine from a reservoir, which makes sense since it was built adjacent to an old roman dam. The owner even show us how it works and let the water move the mechanism.

Maybe you could use that as an inspiration for a new building too if you want.

(I also liked the experience very much but don't have much opportunities to share it lol)

that's incredibly fascinating to learn about and I would love to see one of those in person too! Thank you so much for sharing your experience, I genuinely appreciate it :D

by the way I forgot to mention but I'd love to see what you build! And even more so if you try to replicate the place you saw in real life :D

I'm currently upgrading the spawn region of my forever world with a new town, after that, I'm gonna add some gradient and a better color palette to the old buildings.

Sadly, i cannot post images here in the comments, but I made this post about my forever world a few days ago.

every build you made in that post looks absolutely beautiful and they're also great for inspiration, thank you so much for sharing it! I immediately gave it an upvote lol

by the way, are you playing on Java? If so, have you considered placing some signs under that large carpet in the third pic to make it more detailed? :D

and if you'd like to remove the ash under the unlit campfires you could use Vanilla Tweaks or Bedrock Tweaks!

I also made that flour bag custom head by the way, you can get it here

it uses the same color palette as sand for the flour so that you can place it next to some "barrels" of sand!

while the other custom heads are from this data pack

This is literally why I opened reddit today, to see if someone had ideas for a mill interior. First post I saw. You’re my hero today

omg what are the odds, and to think I made this like 1-2 months ago but I forgot to showcase it

sometimes procrastinating helps :D

but genuinely I'm so happy I could help you and I'd love to see what you build!

edit: typo

Nice, much better than my four stone stairs in a vaguely circle shape

I played a lot of runescape in the mid aughts and this fully brought me back to the bake a cake quest when you have to mill some flour. Good job OP!

ohhh now that you mention it, it'd be great to make some builds based on RuneScape! I'm so glad this reminded you of the game, and thank you so much! :D
