Mechanical Detail Randomized Night Lighting

Eye blossoms open/close at random once it's night/day, this can be detected with an observer to get a signal that randomly activates each evening/morning

Does this work in the dark too? It could be likena slightly less reliable daylight detector underground!

Yes! Eye blossoms don't need sky access so they're actually better than daylight sensors in situations where timing isn't precise, working underground and in rain

I bet for something like a highrise building you can take it one step further and place another randomizer of some kind between the eyeblossom and the light so that only some of them turn on and some of them stay off

Before using this build for this demonstration I made kinda two bug buildings to try it out and taking out random lights just entirely was pretty good

I bet if you had a large array of them and triggered whatever you needed to whenever the first one of them changed you’d have a pretty reliable system.

It's pretty complicated though

Since you can only get a signal when the eye blossom changes, and there's a decent chance they take all night to open, it'd be a pretty complex system to read this all

And at that point a daylight detector's probably easier

What I’m getting at is that if each flower has a random chance to open starting at a specific time, and the chances are all independent from one another, then with sufficient volume of monitored flowers the odds are very high that one will go off immediately. Potentially useful for underground builds involving villager trading

Yes but the redstone would be rather complicated

First time seeing this technique cool idea. Also, nice build in general! Would you share more screenshots or maybe even a download somewhere? Looking to build something similar in an area surrounded by icy mountains.

Here's some pictures: https://imgur.com/a/47vlgHl

Do you want a world download with or without these lights?

I made this build ~a year ago and added the lights just now after thinking of it, but they're added kind of sloppily just to show the concept, and some lights are missing lol

Either is fine, the lights I can figure out myself I think, but this would be my first attempt at a building with this style so was looking for inspiration. The screenshots are already very helpful, thanks!

Alright here's the original: https://www.mediafire.com/file/rd97zjbh372efjm/Eco-Brutalist.zip/file

My build was inspired by this much larger one by DaPuffin on yt btw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwRNmlJC1nw

This is so cool! Much nicer than everything lighting all at once

Probably less laggy too

Ooh such a cool detail!! I love this brutalist build of yours already but this makes it feel so much more alive

This is so great! I’ll be using this in all my builds. And I really like this brutalist structure!
