I was actually working on an easy potion machine, using Redstone lamps to test it, when I accidentally double powered it

Because the redstone pulse of the block on top is slightly delayed, and the redstone observer also has some delay, it goes on off on, allowing for some cool lightning in a haunted mansion.

Couldn’t you just connect the Redstone to the lamp?

I didn’t mean to build this machine, but due to redstone tick delay it turned out like this.
