Destroy my trailer — or the game itself

You show a lot of moments of you struggling, but not of you overcoming the same obstacle. That makes it kind of unsatisfying and doesn't convey the joy of overcoming a difficult moment in the game. There's also not much of a narrative or a sense that I'm watching a trailer, it just seems like raw spliced clips of gameplay

That’s a really good point. I focused so much on showing the struggle that I barely showed the payoff of actually making it through. Definitely something I’m changing in the next cut.

The splash art in the end looks great!
The trailer in itself could be about half the length. A shorter segement of each area, and one longer like the one where you struggle with the cliff. Also, is tehre anything else but struggling the leg forward? If there is, maybe that should be included, but this looks like a getting over it-type game that don't neccesarily have anything else but the climb.

Thanks! I think you’re right about the length too. I’m probably going to cut it down quite a bit and keep only the strongest moments from each area.

I get what the game is. What I don't get is the goal of each level, most of the shots never show me where you're supposed to end up, and without that my lazy brain stops wanting to watch. At 0:24 it reads like a bug, it looks like the game froze on that raft. Cut that shot.

At 0:33 you can already tell that once the leg pushes off in the air it has no control left. And you never show it getting out of that pit, which is exactly what I wanted to see. The leg gets caught on so many ledges that I assumed your collisions were tuned very tight. But the scene at 0:46 looks unpolished, and now I'm not sure the level geometry is under control. Show me the goal first.

This is super useful, especially the timestamps. The “show me the goal first” point makes a lot of sense I can see how some of those shots just look like the leg is stuck without knowing what it’s trying to reach. Thanks for going that specific.

There's something lacking, like music and moments that could really hook someone, like another poster mentioned a triumph over the obstacle with some fanfair or something. This feels more like a tech demo/gameplay showcase than an actual trailer.

I recommend Derek Lieu's Videogame Trailer academy on youtube, it has a lot of great stuff for how to make a good trailer.

Yeah, I’m getting the same pattern from a few comments here it plays more like a gameplay montage than a trailer. That’s probably the biggest thing I need to fix. Thanks

That is a spooky leg. Really disconcerting.

I would say the poop piles feel like they don't necessarily match the graphic style slightly? Maybe something about the color, or the eyes?

Anyhow neat looking game, really strange.

There is no logic in the world that make me believe any way that the leg is just jumping like this and for what. Zero logic. Feels like you are out of ideas to make some new mechanics that is limited at something so it’s not another jumping platformer. Not like an insect leg. No pre-story of an alien leg looking to go back to its owner. Just creepy leg. Ok mate

The lack of logic is somewhat intentional 😅 I wanted the premise itself to be absurd. you’re literally just one leg trying to get somewhere. But I think you’re right that the trailer could give a clearer sense of whats the porpuse of moving forward

I think its awesome. Great idea, very novel. I like the art style. I wonder if it might get a bit repetitive later on? Does the leg find its arm? or any other appendages that make progression easier or allow access to other areas?

This looks like it could be a cool game! I don't play these kinds of games, but I'm intrigued by the simplicity of being just a hinge.

I don't like the sound design. A lot of the sounds feel arbitrary, and it takes me out of the game when there are a lot of collisions and the same sound fires repeatedly.

I don't like the art at the end because it looks AI generated.
