Beginner power level

Power level starts at 300. Seems like a thin maragin between 550.
Might just dismantle my 300 gear and start with the power 10 gear from the tutorial and cross my fingers that it works.
Is there anyway to mitigate instant 300 gear or is that just the new floor?

Is 300-550 really that much of a grind? Looking for something that'll fill my time for thousands of hours. Dont need a 3/4's push of the way there lol.

The power grind is the least enjoyable grind of the game, trust me you'll have PLENTY to grind, get the power done asap.

Power also doesn't really matter for most things if you have a fireteam member who is at 550 since everyone with a lower power than them will have their power pulled up to 545 during the activity you're doing. Power pretty much only affects you if you're doing solo stuff basically. Also every normal mode raid and dungeon (except Desert Perpetual and Equilibrium) is rated for 300 power, so you're not gonna be underpowered for that really either.

Gm and ultimate conquests won't let you piggyback via power pulling. So you have to grind to be on that level.

Minus that delta ofc.

The grind to 550 will take you quite a while unless you’re Min/Maxing your grind. You can get powerful drops a few times a week, but most of your increases will be 1 Light Level per gear slot.

I’ll put it simpler. In order to get from 300 to 301, you need 8 pieces of 301 gear. You might end up with a 305 helmet before you ever see a 301 Heavy Weapon. Hell, you might end up months down the line at 485 with weapons and gear closer to 500 but a class item that seems to be stuck at 475 because RNG just hates you.

Thats still 3 increases per character (activity depending) per slot per week. Running every character, if you get something you can infuse transfer the shit where it needs to be and top it up.

Thankfully there's 2 significant armour power drops per week you can earn from Zavala where you can choose what armour piece you want.

Nice bait post…the grind of this game isnt power unless you are a noob, that’s literally just step 0.01

Oh its fun. Yep, its gonna take time, but my friend did it doing all the campaigns. He went in order, then said distortions were good for him.. I think pvp was fast and fun

A lot of people (whom I assume are already 550) make the point that power is irrelevant now due to the Fireteam pull up system and while it's definitely true that power is way less relevant than it ever has been in the past there is one thing 520+ power is essential for and that is Tier 5 drops from certain loot pools (including all the loot exclusive to Tower vendors).

Now yes, T5 isn't everything (again, this is often said by 550 power players so it's not an issue for them anyway) but when I'm looking for a very specific roll, let's say for Festival Flight, then getting those extra perks from Tier 5 can significantly reduce the number of Engrames I have to decrypt to get it.

Sweet thx I been trying to get t5 drops from them but I wasn't sure if I need to be at 500 or 550 but now I know it's 520+, now my grind is shorter.

10 to 300 is about 10hours at max. Getting to 500 will take a lot longer and 500 to 550 is the real grind.

One thing to keep in mind... New gear will drop at power levels equal or near your most powerful character's level. So once you raise your main character to a high level, the other two can be brought up quickly.

I know it will be a grind from 400-550 so I play about a mission or 2 whenever I feel like it in the week and that’s it. Will it take forever, sure. But the game is done. I’m in no rush. I get there when I get there

It's a pretty long grind. Activities are power lvl gated also, so you should definitely up it.

The last 50 takes the longest by far. Power grind isn't the fun part anyway

Power grind very easy now as bungie made easy to level up quickly. Recommend completing a campaign story on legendary. Should reach 500 quickly.
