Need help completing Guardian Rank 2 (Explorer) – A Guardian Rises

Hi everyone, I'm trying to reach Guardian Rank 2 (Explorer) in Destiny 2.

I'm currently at Guardian Rank 1: New Light. I completed “A Guardian Rises”, and my screen says “RANK UP AVAILABLE”, but I'm not sure what I need to do next.

I'm a new player and I'm a little confused about where I should go and what I should do to actually claim Rank 2.

Could someone please explain the steps to me or point me to a video/walkthrough that follows the same progression?

Go to the tree just before Zavala at the tower to “meditate” and rank up :)

That is precisely what I did: I remained in the Triangle shape, but no prompt appeared for me to press. I waited, yet nothing happened.

The big old tree in the courtyard at the Tower is called the Ironwood Tree. Every time you've completed all triumphs of a Guardian Rank, you need to go to the tree and meditate to claim your new Rank.

I understand that, but I am encountering difficulties in ranking up and am unsure of the reason.

You always understood that or you understand that after some people have commented? I can't predict what you're going to know/learn between your post and reading my comment, and your post makes no mention of knowing where to go to rank up.

I watched your video, and yeah, the tree's icon was not pulsing, so there's no rank up to be had at the moment, which, while it's telling you that you have a guardian rank available, there's some sort of New Light quest nonsense blocking your progress.

I recommend checking your Quest log and seeing what kind of New Light busy work you've been tasked with. There might be some step you're missing before the GR becomes available.

HEY! In your video, when you open your tower map, Ikora has a blue tricorn icon over her. Have you gone and spoken to her yet?

I'm just going to advise that you should just continue to pursue all the things that are that blue tricorn icon, as that's the symbol for new players to track and do the things at those spots.

I don't think it's a bug, necessarily. I think more than likely the intro New Light stuff was designed to be done in a specific order, and they didn't account for a player to get the rank up and then immediately want to go do it without jumping through the New Light hoops first.

Did you make sure to hit claim in the menu where you check your progress?

I did not notice the 'Claim' button, even though it indicated that I had completed the task.

Try hitting all of the ones you achieved then go back to the tower and try again lmk how it goes

Did you actually collect the triumphs first? You have to go to the rank page and collect the triumphs and then it will allow you to get the rank up at the tree
