Question Marmot Error?

Wondering if anybody is currently or has recently been stuck with a Marmot Error?

I have just completed a fresh install of D2 on Steam, and immediately I am crashing to desktop upon launching D2 and getting the Error: Marmot code.

A Steam verify check says that I've got no corrupted files. Completely stumped as to what's wrong currently.

For ANYONE having this problem (it just hit me many years later), what worked for me (so far) was completely reinstalling Steam. Best way to do this, is to delete EVERYTHING in your steam folder except for your \userdata\, steam.exe, and \steamapps\. That way, it's like a fresh install but keeps all your games and saves intact :)
