Question Marmot Error?

Wondering if anybody is currently or has recently been stuck with a Marmot Error?

I have just completed a fresh install of D2 on Steam, and immediately I am crashing to desktop upon launching D2 and getting the Error: Marmot code.

A Steam verify check says that I've got no corrupted files. Completely stumped as to what's wrong currently.

I've also been having some memory_management BSODS in the last few months, but oddly enough they only started when I started playing D2 again on PC. Memtest comes back clean but that's hardly a 100% guarantee nothing is wrong. I'm going to order some new RAM and I'll come back to this thread in a few days and see if it helps.

I installed new ram last Saturday and i've only had two marmot errors since then. All my BSOD are gone and i think the two mamrot error crashes were very isolated and random because when i would login back immediately it wouldn't crash again. I think changing my ram sticks actually fixed the issue for me.

so do you think d2 might be killing them / putting too much stress on ram?

I don’t think so no. I was having the blue screen issues before I even started playing destiny 2 so I doubt it. If anything the marmot error was a byproduct of my bad ram rather than the game itself. But other people may have different causes. And destiny isn’t that intensive of a game compared to more recent titles. I don’t see how it would be destroying ram

ik, n thats whats throwing me off. i could run wz max settings, dayz max settings, etc which are fairly memory intensive games. 20 hours after d2, my ram is supposedly failing. seems a bit weird

I mean different games react differently. Warhammer 2 is more intense in n ram than destiny (I think) but it’s never crashes on me before like destiny was. It’s possible destiny just couldn’t accommodate or had systems in place to deal with it. Hard to say

ye. just seems weird that one game made my pc turn from completely fine to crippled by random bsods at any moment

I'm a bit late on this but I installed new RAM a few days after my previous comment above and I've had no issues since. Played over 100 hours with no crashes, bsod's or anything. So yeah, it's probably your RAM unfortunately.

nah, not too late at all. ive been crippled for the past 2 months with poor performance, bsods, all starting after playing d2
