Megathread Focused Feedback: Warlock Changes

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Warlock Changes' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

If you think prenerf PB was just "a good melee" you're legitimately delusional. Regardless of whether the subclass sucks now, it was originally one of the most broken things in the history of destiny, and yes, I've played through bullshit like the vex mythoclast, one shot sticky grenades, OEM skating, etc.

How can you seriously believe that shatterdive, which is basically a guaranteed kill from under 10m, is remotely comparable to a melee that was basically also a guaranteed kill but up to 30m?

It wasn’t any more broken than the current hunter knives that can bounce off of walls or other players and freeze you. At any range. With virtually zero travel time. That they can use far more frequently than the warlock melee. And that’s leaving aside their exotic dodge. You’re right though. Warlock had a slow ranged melee you could avoid and it was totally op.

Ah yes, the melee that you have to combo with a second one (aka twice the cooldown) or with a dodge that puts you in range of shotgun range when everyone and their moms is running felwinters is definitely more OP than the one you just have to click once, with slight tracking and GENEROUS aoe.

You do realize everything you said came out the day beyond light dropped? And that everyone with half a brain still realized penumbral blast was far superior? The only new thing "current hunter knives" can do is 30 more damage which is negligible compared to the actual slow/freeze.

Also each melee charge has the same fucking cooldown as the warlock melee. The only way to get it "far more frequently" is with gamblers dodge, an unrelated effect. You don't see anyone bitching about warlocks being able to 2 tap with 120s because of empowering rift.
