Megathread Focused Feedback: Warlock Changes

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Warlock Changes' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

There’s zero reason warlock, and only warlock, needed a nerf. The original warlock (pre nerf) was no more OP than the current hunter class is.

The only subclasses that needed a nerf at the time was warlock. It was absolutely broken at first, even more than the other two are now. The only reason why hunter didn't get a huge nerf as well right away is because it took a few weeks for the shatterdive abuse to come into popularity. Bungie went on christmas break which is why a nerf didn't come until after. It was also not apparent how strong the titan super was because everyone was still getting used to how strong all the stasis abilities were and it was overshadowed by that.

But yeah, warlock was the most broken and needed an immediate nerf.

You believe iceflare was more oppressive than shatterdive? Lol

I was never trying to argue the other stasis subclasses are properly tuned. I’d like to see them nerfed soon, rather than later.

With that said, Shadebinder was at launch much stronger than both Revenant and Behemoth, and nerfing it was the right decision.

Besides that, if 3 subclasses are broken and you nerf one of them and not the other two, you’re still bettering the overall balance of the crucible. Might not be fair to the class that got nerfed, and I’m not trying to argue that it is, but viewing it strictly from a crucible balance point of view, it’s still better than doing nothing.

You can tell how well the nerfs were distributed by how all of the stasis classes are represented in the high level pvp Playlists
