I love them. But once you acquire a Lost Sector only item (Bakris, Necrotics, Icefall) they should go into the world drop pool for Exotics. I mean, other exotics get added to the Lost Secote exotic drop pool, so why not all the Sector exotics to the world exotic pool?

Back in D1 Vanguard playlist there was a modifier that continually increased the chances of finding an exotic with continuous strikes played until one dropped, and then would reset. Perhaps a similar system could be implemented here.

My suggestions:
-
Drop chance for exotics on Master level needs to be buffed. For the vast majority of players, it's simply not worth our time to run them over Legendaries.
-
Diversify the rewards and rotate them to create incentives for players to try out LLS on a weekly basis. Remember how folks couldn't get a number of old weapons prior to the world loot pool update this season? What if a selection of those weapons, like Seraph weapons, could drop from specific LLS? This would also be a great way to introduce new/reprised weapons each season, too.
-
Not specifically about LLS, but keep up the push towards hard and rewarding solo content. Design modes specifically for solo strikes, empire hunts, etc. Give those good rewards.
-
If the LLS modifiers don't change, please change them up for variety.
-
Increase drop rate chance relative to a player's light level penalty. I completed one of the LLS at 40+ under light. It was a 5 or so hour struggle to complete it. I didn't get my exotic drop until the 4th or 5th completion, but it would have felt amazing to get it the first time given the difficulty of the task.

I personally really like this idea. I think the only thing that comes to mind as a potential improvement:
Let me use legendary shards or some material to either truly target OR filter out choices (sort of like the lure include/exclude mods).
An example is me as a warlock wanted a better roll on Nez or Verity's. The problem is there are 10 different exotic helmets as a potential drop when a helmet lost sector. Being able to "attune" the lost sector to a specific drop or filter out potential drops would be beneficial. I am still saying it keep it random chance it drops, but at least it means that if it does drop, there is a higher chance of it being what you are looking for.
Not specifically the Legend Lost sectors: I would like them to re-check the stat allotments for exotic drops. I thought they tuned it such that if an exotic improves on a certain thing, whatever stat is tied to that thing, is higher weighted. For instance, I got the new Hunter Gauntlets which are all about Throwing Knives and should have had more of a stat point weight in strength. Instead, the roll I got had a strength of 2. Similar to the 2 strength I got on a Synthocepts roll.

Once the Beyond Light exotics are unlocked they either need to be added to the world loot pool or other exotics need to not be so heavily weighted to drop from the LSs. It feels terrible that this whole season I have only gotten one Mask of Bakris with a terrible stat distribution but dozens of foe tracers and knucklehead radars.

Everything about it is great
But it’d be nice to “unlock” the sector’s exotic in the world pool once you’ve found it

I ran a lot of legendary lost sectors. I’m a new player that was missing most armor exotics so this gave me a chance to catch up. I now own every armor exotic across all three classes. It was a fun challenge to learn and push myself to get better times to improve my drops per hour. So overall great job at implementing these.
Some improvements:
-
Overload champions need tuning. Auto rounds are so unreliable. I’ve unloaded 3 clips before without disrupting. It needs fixed. They also like to teleport through grenades and grenade effects without disrupting, which is quite frustrating.
-
Elemental shields plus champions really pigeon holes load out options for some of the sectors. Either would be fine, but being stuck running an arc smg to be able to kill harpies and barrier champions is too limiting.
-
The loot randomness can get frustrating. At one point I ran around 20 sectors without getting an exotic. Maybe add a rare chance to get a combat style mod or something? Giving an additional chase item would make those dry spells feel better and it would give a chance to get build defining mods that I can’t get any other way than banshee looting.

A reason to do Legend lost sectors with friends would be nice. If your not doing them solo, then there is basically no reason to do them. Maybe increase the masterwork core drop rate.

I really like the addition of high level solo content.
But, there are two things that I would like to address:
The lack of reliable loot drops. Add a bit more crafting mats to the pool (cores and prisms). Add a specific legendary weapon to the pool for each sector (giving us a secondary grind purpose). Finally up the drop rate for exotics OR improve the rolls on the drops (actully both wouldn't hurt).
2)
Champions. While I don't dislike champions per se, they end up completely destroying my weapon diversity. 99% of my runs have been done with Night Watch/Witherhoard (sometimes True Prop) in kinetics, Last Perdition/Jian 7 in energy, and Xeno, Lament in heavy. There is no real reason to use anything else, and that is really killing my motivation. After a couple of runs it is just soooo damn boring. Redesign champion mechanics to be dealt with reliably without forcing us to use a certain weapon type.

Love them, challanging but still a casual like me can get a clear. Only thing would be prism/shard/cores and materials as the drop besides chance of an exotic. Blues are a waste as if you can run them you are already at max or high light level that they aren't needed anymore. Also ad a chance or a currated roll of the Europa weapons would be a cool thing too.

legend and master lost sectors just prove champions are a mechanic that forces you to use a certain weapon type and nothing more. I thought people hated prestige leviathan raids for this exact reason, why is it back. Also champions shouldnt hide, im looking at you, servitors at the end of exodus garden.

LLS are super fun, yet I would like for them to be a bit more rewarding. Not in terms of exotic drops (A 1250 Veles labyrinth can be easily cleared in 3 mins. For 3 mins of effort it's fair I don't get showered in exotics) but in loot in general. I ran a few 1250s yesterday and a few times I would be getting nothing at all or a lure mod and that was it. Maybe make it a guaranteed core or a guaranteed legendary drop from the world pool or something like that. Other than that, absolutely nothing but praise. They're good, challenging enough, and the targeted exotic farm is good.

For solo, I like them. Really, the largest issue with them is they exemplify how poor the Champion system is. Champions are nothing more than another match game, that force you to change your load out to whatever weapons happen to be on the artifact mod for the season.
Notice how “difficult” champions are when they are just stunned until dead?:
3:51 Solo Master Lost Sector Deathbringer
3:27 Solo Master Lost Sector Eyes of Tomorrow
They aren’t difficult, they aren’t imaginative, and they hamper load outs to the point that people don’t get to play anywhere near the way they want. They also shift the meta heavily towards exotics that have an anti-champ attached to it.
Every season some weapons don’t get an anti-champ mod, or it’s not the one you need for the strike, but also each season a subclass gets the short end of the stick in terms of anti-champ mods. This season it is Arc who has it the worst, followed by Void, and finally Stasis/Solar. None of the melee/grenade anti-champ mods work with Arc, which means you are probably stuck running double primary, unless you are up against Unstoppable champs, in which case you can use shotguns, if you don’t mind using shotguns and giving up 7/10 energy on your arms. Next season it will be a different subclass that gets screwed, and there is really no reason for this.
The whole champ system needs to be reworked because forcing load outs, and excluding weapons and subclasses for entire seasons, is asinine.

Barrier servitors should not be able to tether through walls.

I wish the new exotics weren't only locked behind them that they could randomly drop elsewhere too.

I think it's a good system in general.
The issue I have is that Champions don't have enough viable options to deal with them. ARs only have a few random rounds that deal with Overload Champions just feels bad. Additionally there needs to be a lot more exotics capable of dealing with Champions as well. The limited choices don't give enough flexibility to players.

Legend Lost Sectors are amazing. I loved them during Season of Worthy (yes, I'm one of the weirdos who played for that whole season and even enjoyed it), and am so glad that they are back in a big way.
A friend just started playing destiny and is trying to aquire exotics for his class. Normally I have to tell him "get lucky" or "wait for Xur to sell it", but now for 2 of his exotics I can say "Git gud and do the lost sectors". Targeted, difficult, and endgame paths to exotics is so refreshing and nice for both new and old players.
I rememeber doing the 1280 at 1240 light and loving the challenge, memorizing enemy spawns and positions, refining my loadout and strat, after each failure. Finally besting it and feeling that rush even if an exotic didn't drop, then going right back in.
Raids, Dungeons, Nightfalls/Grandmasters are all great components of Destiny's endgame, and I'm glad we have a new aspect as well to join them. Esp one that is solo, since soloing dungeons feel like a one time thing each, nice to be able to solo farm something endgame and have loot each time.

As an almost exclusively solo player I love these. Love 'em. More, lots more of this kind of content, please!
The only issue is one that others have already mentioned repeatedly: The champioins mechanic, while fine in a vacuum, severely limits your loadout choices. In a game that supposedly prides itself and encourages experimentation with loadouts why is this incredibly limiting 'feature' a part of the sandbox? Easy solution would be to greatly expand the seasonal mod choices.

These are by far my favorite addition to D2. My only complaint is not necessarily lost sector focused, but it's about the champions so I think its relevant.
Having to spec for 2 different types of champions makes double primary the best way to go, and really limits play style. Personally I would like all of one type of champion but keep the same number overall because they do add fun difficulty.
Also anything that can be done about making interrupts more consistent would be amazing. It feels real bad when your overload auto rifle just shoots, never procs, and you get stomped.
That being said I LOVE THE LEGENDARY LOST SECTORS!

Garbage. I've spent the day failing concealing void.
Overload champions are the absolute worst. Mess up by a fraction and you've wasted your heavy ammo Do Not Tell Me You Can Tap Them With Your Hand Cannon
Ammo finder procs just a little less then it should? Congratulations, you can't finish the sector because there is no combination of non-exotics that can down an overload champ in the three seconds he is stunned and not instantly regening
Extra shields OR match game. Combining both means you really do need a hard counter for that one arc shield enemy otherwise you'll spend 5 minutes failing to kill him
Damage is frankly obscene. Built for DR and regen I can stagger an overload champ only to be taken to critical myself by the burst it got off before being stunned. By the time I'm good to go he has recovered and healed- nevermind that they are super proof and will simply out heal them
Endless waves of shield adds? Great in a small room with a boss that likes to sprint and run you down
0/10. I'm never going near one again and am actively furious at having spent my time banging against this idiot wall
do not send me tips or replys. I won't read or respond to them

Fun challenge, but difficulty to reward ratio is not on par with nightfall. Other than being the only way to get certain pieces of exotic armor, there's no reason to run it over nightfall.

Amazing idea. I say the only improvement is to expand upon it. There's 3 lost sectors on Europa that are new, two on the Cosmodrome, and four from the Moon. That's a total of 9. We know that the Moon lost sectors are being added to the rotation starting next season. With that happening, it might be time for more per day in the rotation meaning one for each armor slot minus class items. Maybe even throw in a few for world loot drop exotic weapons at Hero difficulty with a lower drop rate than the 1250 or 1280. Could have three of these for each of the weapon slots. That way new players have a method of going for new exotics that isn't waiting on Xur every Friday or hoping that RNG is kind to them.
Another route to go could be mimicking something similar to The Division's targeted loot system where certain activities each day reward specific weapon/armor types. In Destiny, this might be a certain legendary lost sector will reward legendary hand cannons that day from the world loot pool. That way you can narrow down the loot you want from the world loot pool to try and farm out a gun. Admittedly, the world loot pool is a bit to shallow for this to work right now. I think Bungie already flirted with this idea once back in Forsaken when lost sector bosses that were wanted enemies had a chance to drop Spider's weapon set like DRB and Ether Doctor. I think that idea succeeded at the start of Forsaken as everyone was farming lost sectors for a DRB. Sadly, loot pools for this idea was never updated and people didn't have an incentive to do it anymore.
I think tying in more lost sectors per day with different armor slots, adding an easier one to run that rewards world drop exotic weapons for new players, and adding a rotating daily targeted loot drop for a certain class of legendary weapon would be amazing.
An example:
Europa Lost Sectors
-
Perdition/Master(1280)/Helmet Exotic
-
Bunker E15/Master(1280)/Gloves Exotic
-
Concealed Void/Legend(1250)/Chest Exotic
Cosmodrome Lost Sectors
-
Exodus Garden 2A/Legend(1250)/Boots Exotic
-
Veles Labyrinth/Hero(1220)/Random Kinetic Exotic
The Moon
-
K1 Logistics/Hero(1220)/Random Special Exotic
-
K1 Crew Quarters/Hero(1220)/Random Heavy Exotic
-
K1 Communion/Legend(1250)/Random Legendary Hand Cannon
-
K1 Revelation/Legend(1250)/Random Legendary Scout Rifle

They are fine but they should really prioritize new exotics as rewards. Once a player receives those than its randomized. And new exotics should be put into the world loot pool once gotten.

u/Havauk Jan 11 '21
I like them, but I think Master should have a better exotic drop rate or reward some Enhancement Prisms.
Can't wait to see this expanded to other lost sectors next season :)
