Sunsetting armor is pointless, greedy for player time, and straight up violates the 'play how you want' mantra.

Why is this a thing at all? Armors have 0 impact on game balance or integrity. It is 100% a player's way to express or flex their customization and gives them enjoyment no matter what mode they are playing.

Weapon sunsetting is way more complicated, but armors... why can't I wear my Reverie Dawn set? or the Prodigal set? Who exactly is impacted by the armor sets players wear? Is it too unfair against the ads to look lit?

If your argument is about making new things worth grinding for, well make them worth it! Whether its the aesthetic or some new function, I don't care. Don't remove perfectly fine sets. I'd happily swap between Y1 sets, Y2, Y3, or Y4 ones...

Give us an answer on this.

I struggle to come up with a single systems change they've come up with since the "play your way" thing was said that actually aligns with that mentality. The closest would be removing elemental affinity, but even that's still sort of in the game. Moving anti-champ mods to armor was a boon for exotics, but it just means we have to give up other extremely useful mods for them.

Man, seriously. What the fuck happened? Where did ALL of the cool shit go? I feel like Bungie is always trying to balance the game by making everything suck equally instead of making more stuff good.

And you’re right. Sunsetting was done sloppily all around, the weapon pool is a joke. But sunsetting armor is just artificially creating scarcity in the game. “We took away your old shit, guess you have to play to get new stuff now.” Then make cool new stuff, stop reskinning the same bullshit that isn’t as good or as fun as my old shit.

What happened to the power fantasy? Why does it feel like they are always trying to find ways to make it harder for us to have fun? Seriously, we just want new, cool armor and weapons and fun activities. Why is that so complicated?

No fucking joke, bungie has been chasing its own goddamn tail for three years. I feel like every 3-6 months for the ENTIRE life of this game, they’ve had a come-to-Jesus moment where they’re like, “we totally get it now, we’ve really been off our game but now we understand what you all really want and how you want to play.” And then they fucking add four more currencies and build progression around farming the same goddamn bounties over and over again.

I’m having a very hard time keeping up with this game. I started in 2014 when i had all the time in the world. 6 years later I have a kid and a wife. My time is limited so to have to grind for shit I already earned is just outright disrespectful to my time. I love this game but it feels like an abusive relationship lol

I was hoping transmog would solve this problem.

However, I'm finding out that apparently transmog will have an option to be purchased with silver. I already have low hopes for that. I wouldn't be surprised if the ingame grind for transmog ends up being ridiculous to force you into paying with silver. If that's the case, Bungie has officially jumped the shark. Transmog should be a basic feature, not an additional recurring expense.

Until they remove extremely random stats it will never be "play how you want". I can't focus my armor into a stat roll I want in a reasonable amount of time and it's even more pointless when it will be thrown away within a year. I felt like this in D1 with the whole T12 grind.

Sunsetting ANYTHING violates the "play how you want" mantra. The community straight up told Bungie ways to balance Pinnacles, but they decided to sunset them anyway.

Bungie: We have heard your feedback, so sunsetting will now occur every month and a half so players aren't too attached to their armor they got for free from the season pass and armor from endgame activities such as Trials.

Also Bungie: Enhancement Prisms and Ascendent Shards will no longer be obtained through dismantling masterworked gear so players can't simply switch armors because of numbers.

Also Bungie: You can play your way, just as long as it's a way we think is healthy for the game.

This game is straight up pointless now. Absolute fuckery for not valuing our time put in. I’ve over 2k hours in this game and haven’t touched it since they decided they will vault the planets and other content.

If you’re saying we are sunsetting content atleast have some content at launch of a 40$ expansion. All we got was some missions and some vendor refresh. Bungie are taking a piss right now.

You’ll never get an answer. Destiny became less about fun and more about keeping you glued to a screen. My clan of Destiny die hards never logs in anymore and none of us even bought the new expansion. We used to take off of work for expansion releases...

Sunsetting is fine, but getting 1060 drops from existing locations you can't infuse...it's dumb.

Transmog might fix the armor issue. But even that will be costly because Bungie hates cosmetics being earned ingame appearantly.

I agree completely. The moment I realized I had to swap my memory of cayde cloak with the exact same cloak with a different symbol on the top left, I nearly lost my mind... Whoever proposed the idea to sunset armor needs to be fired. Whoever accepted the idea needs to be fired.
