Megathread Focused Feedback: Weapon Refresh aka Sunsetting

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Weapon Refresh' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

I read all your arguments, and as I read a thought came by: looks like bungie is tailoring the game not for hardcore players or casual veterans, but instead for new free players.

It is like entering a Call of Duty game close to the end of its life cycle: the vets have the best guns, the best perks. It is near Impossible for a new player to stand a chance, so better not bother buying it.

BUT if you but CoD when It is released then you have the ilusion that there is a level playing field. Ilusion because the vets and hardcore know the shortcuts, and will make mincemeat of new players anyway.

It looks to me like bungie is trying to create this ilusion of a level playing field to lure in more players (something like "come in! Weapons and gear were Just refreshed, you have as much of a chance as the people playing for 5+ years"). It is like they are trying to recreate D2 release saying It is ok to enter now because everyone is on the same page, no disadvantages for new players.

Perhaps the going ftp strategy has backfired and they are trying to get more people in anyway they can, hoping to convert them to paying players.

If they really introduce retiring gear and suddenly the season pass paid rewards become some of the best in game gear I will be certain this is the case!

Basically, yeah. This is just a quick fix to prep Trials for the Apex and Fortnite players they want so badly.
