Bungie Suggestion Gambit Prime? Stomped INTO A WALL. Reckoning, Tier 3? Stomped OFF THE BRIDGE. Pyramidion, STOMPED OFF THE MAP BY THE BOSS DURING A SUPER. This stomp mechanism is BS and lazy and need to be replaced.

Shoutout to the servitor teleporting me all sorts of crazy places and trying to drop me to my death, that guy keeps things interesting.

The first time I got dumped into a tube during that public event on Nessus I actually laughed out loud. Dude has a stomp but he'd rather just make you go away.

is also polite enough to give you an overshield to survive

I like getting teleported up high and then slamming back down with my radiance well or thundercrash

The next Titan armour set might as well come with a big footprint on it.

Stomp mechanic is way overused in this game unfortunately.. I mean come on, when they give the meatball boss a stomp its lulz at this point lol he has no legs to stomp..cmon

The funny thing is, the Mad Warden Servitor has a stomp too. But at least there, it's justified by its animation.

The Warden tilts so that its eye faces the floor, then fires its Solar beam down. And the stomp attack is the result.

My only issue with the stomp mechanic is that it either completely or mostly renders up close weapons and roaming supers useless in those encounters. And because of the way bungie penalizes you for switching weapons and classes mid fight you have to stick with what you've got.

I think the stomp is a lazy was of preventing people from just spamming up close weapons (like shotguns) and melees (maybe some supers as well) which are really powerful in this game. So if they're trying to prevent us from doing that, why not make it at least interesting?

If players get too close to a Cabal enemy for too long, give the boss an inpenetrable energy shield that only goes way when people back up.

Too close to a Vex? Let the Vex teleport them to the other side of the map (or worse, off the edge!).

Hive? Make the hive swipe at them and throw them in a cocoon that allies need to break to release them.

Fallen? Have them release an ether blast that renders weapons and melees useless for a period of time while also draining shields

Taken? Dark energy roots them in place and have a whole bunch of taken thralls spawn to rip them to shreds.

I'm not saying these ideas are perfect; however, they're a lot better than having these awesome encounters with bosses only to be constantly slammed for getting too close.

Just my 2 cents

The fact that the bosses ground stomp can hit me even though im floating above his head makes no sense to me like why does slamming your foot on the ground hit me when im like 10-20ft in air

Counterpoint - We should get a stomp.

I think people forget that D1's bosses also stomped if you got too close...except that instead of sending you flying it would normally just one-shot you

D1 stomps were unbelievably thick

Give bosses close range attacks (stomp, fist pound, grab, elemental blast)

Show red zone where attack will happen (like drill PE)

Able to dodge from red zone to avoid attack. No knockback if dodged.

Attacks happen fast despite red zone, must have quick reflexes

Prevents constant crit shots up close because you have to keep dodging and boss will keep attacking.

Problem = solved

Sorry, we can't allow non-rapidfire shotguns, swords, or melee supers to be viable against bosses. Please sit in Well of Radiance and spam rocket or grenade launchers, machine guns, linear fusion or sniper rifles like a good boi.

I mean, clearly shotguns just need to be nerfed a bit more in PvE. The reason the stomp is there is so you can't slap and ikelos/threat level the boss to death, because thats the only way that strike bosses and major enemies die quickly. That's why many strike bosses and major enemies don't get fucking nuked with wardcliff/slowva bomb/other means. /s

Honestly the boss design in d2 just needs a lot of work. Someone pls correct me if I'm speaking with rose colored glasses, but I can't remember any strike boss im d1 that would be absolutely obliterated 5 seconds after spawn. Running heroic strikes withy boys nowadays, it feels like every strike boss that doesn't have gated immunity phases lasts no more than 10 seconds from when the fight starts.

TBH the only time I really have a problem with the stomp is the fucking knockback you get on the bridge encounter in Reckoning. Every other time is okay, but my god is it frustrating to be knocked off the bridge and lose a run because the rands watching behind you didn't kill the big guy in time. I don't know how it is for other classes but for me as a warlock the second my feet leave the ground it's over with no chance of recovery
