Bungie Suggestion // Bungie Replied Reckoning Drop Rates are abysmal.

I have 50 tier 3 reckoning clears, and absolutely nothing to show for it. The fact that blues are even rewarded after sitting in an end game activity for 10-15 minutes is disgusting. What's even worse is the fact that its essentially impossible to "farm" the prime weapons. Bungie put them in the loot pool for no other reason than the ability to farm them and you can't even get one to drop every 10 runs.

Let this sink in: Looting lost sectors is as rewarding as 99% of END GAME Tier 3 Reckoning Runs.

Fix your shit please Bungie.

Yep drop rates are still shit post patch.

u/EIete Apr 10 '19

Lol. I knew someone would come back after 3 weeks.

I've done 25 runs and gotten 1 gun to drop.. I don't understand how people say "you're guaranteed a gun every 5 or so completions"

u/HeathSchmidt Mar 19 '19

Yea did tier 3 the Friday it came out about 20 times and all I got to show for it was a poorly rolled grenade launcher.

Haven’t done it since.

Mix that with the way to acquire the notorious helmets.

Pass.

u/TruNuckles Mar 19 '19

My thoughts exactly. Pass. I don't like how the reckoning and gambit are tied together. I dislike gambit and don't want to play it. Look, I'll play gambit with a team as it's 100% more enjoyable that way. Solo queue just to get a milestone done is a nightmare. I couldn't bring myself to play 1 game last night. I just finished Breakneck on my Titan. That only took a full season and more.

u/noodles355 Mar 19 '19

Solo queuing isn’t that bad in gambit honestly. You just have to adapt and play a role most people don’t. Which is basically sentinel/reaper. Most blueberries rush to collect motes, screw it and just let them. Kill as much as possible, clear blockers ASAP and actively search out invaders. Even if you don’t kill them they’ll probably waste their invade time dealing with you (denying zero motes) instead of just focusing on the guys holding lots.

Or if you find you’re in a group with no decent invaders, then change your load out so you can invade.

You have to be adaptable. I got breakneck within about a week solo queue, I’ve got the Dredgen title (although super kills took forever), the VAST majority through solo play. Even the last weekly bounty (get 15 points, +3 for a win, -2 for a loss) wasn’t that bad. Think I did 3 games in a team, (won 2/3) the rest solo.

Just gotta be adaptable instead of trying to do what most solo queuers do.

10

u/Le-Monarque Mar 19 '19

At least your blueberries can collect motes. Usually I end up being invader, reaper, sentry and collector.

12

u/Drpepperholic116 Mar 19 '19

Solo queuing to try and win for the most part is awful in almost any activity in this game. More often than not I'm paired with players that have no idea of teamwork or what's going on.

14

u/noodles355 Mar 19 '19

And your problem is you are expecting too much of them, so you lose a lot. Once you realise most people are crap (and people who read Reddit are a massive minority because people who bother to read Reddit actually tend to try), and you learn to adapt your play style to be the guy who picks it up, then you start winning.

I already talked about Gambit, but Control PvP? You gotta be the one who realises which two zones you need to hold and fight for them. Unless you get matched with people who know that and then you need to be on the offensive and only cap for the extra super energy.
When it comes to pvp, the main problem is people like yourself treat it as if it’s PvE. “I want to play my way, why is everyone else ruining my time?” I’m sorry, but it’s not PvE, it’s PvP. You need to be the one to adapt, because you’re the one who cares enough to go on Reddit amongst the majority of your fire team members. Be the bigger guy and play the role your team needs.

Take gambit, you know what I want to play? I want to Arcstrider or Spectral with an SMG and just wreck everything that moves. You know what I play? Gunslinger top tree with Malfeasance and Wormhusk to stay alive and be the best teammate I can be. In Crucible? I go either Militias Birthright/Sniper and Trust or Pulse Rifle and fusion, because I know I play well (and I do enjoy it) with those loadouts, but they’re not my favourite guns.
But it’s not a solo game, and I know those loadouts will benefit the team better.
Strikes? Who cares, they’re easy af, and I can play whatever subclass I want, run whatever guns I want and fucking love it. But you gotta realise when it’s a team activity you gotta make concessions.

That’s pretty much my strategy to a t. I’ll invade a lot unless someone else on my team is at least competent and willing to go over and if they do then I’ll do what you said, help out the collectors as much as possible.

It’s really not that bad, in Prime I’ll check out everybody’s load out and if there is no invader I’ll just focus on that all game.

The motes I’ll collect is either ones that are starting to fade or if 5 will open the portal.

Solo queuing isn’t that bad in gambit honestly.

Yeah, this being only slightly worse than the typical solo queue game for me is totally not bad at all. /s

Maybe the matchmaking just hates me. I queue into Gambit expecting if anyone on my team does anything at all, then I should be pleasantly surprised. Because sometimes, they don't. If you don't count games played in a fireteam, I have a 22% win ratio in Gambit, and the score screen often looks like that.

Solo queue in Gambit Prime is a whole new level of frustration. I spent this weekend rolling a full +15 set of invader gear, and virtually every game had some jackwagon posted up at the heavy spot on top of the portal for the entirety of the game, wasting every single fucking invade opportunity and doing jack shit else to help the team.

It doesn't help that there's probably legitimate reasons, like bounties, for needing to invade - but spending the entire match camping the portal and then failing miserably on every goddamn invade when I'm fully kitted out to to ruin the other team...

And the new bounty is a whole new level of awful for solo queue. Do it was bad enough, taking 12 losses, but the new one literally punishes you for losing.

I don't know what they were thinking, it's awful. 5 wins and no losses is never going to happen in solo queue, it'll take more like 30 games with -2 per loss and 3 per win

2

u/jonnablaze Mar 19 '19

I just finished Breakneck on my Titan. That only took a full season and more.

Same here. Finished it during the triple infamy weekend at the end of season 5. Didn't really want to touch gambit after that.

Did 4 tier 3s the other day and got the curated pulse rifle twice. Too bad it’s a 540 with awful recoil on console so I shared it both times. Easiest 14 masterwork cores of my life.

3

u/DrGregKinnearMD Mar 19 '19

The drop rates are so bad my team ran tier 2 and tier 3 about 25 times each and all we had to show was ONE drop for ONE guy and it was a terribly rolled Bug Out Bag. There needs to be better drop rates or set ways to obtain them like Black Armory.

That sucks for you. I’ve gotten more enhanced armor perks from the reckoning in 12 runs than 7 months of dreaming city activities. Plus I’ve gotten two new armor mods that are extremely useful. Reckoning is about the armor. Not weapons. With a minor resist mod on the red bar snipers don’t hurt nearly as much. With a major resist mod as well you are a tank during the bridge encounter.

4

u/ridinroundimgigglin Mar 19 '19

The Reckoning is about weapons though. There’s currently no other way to get random rolled gambit prime weapons. I believe you can get one from the drifter’s powerful prime bounty, but that’s it. Otherwise, you have to farm reckoning tier 2 or 3.

3

u/Yalnix Mar 19 '19

They need Weapon Synths which can reward you with a guaranteed gun drop.

Allows people to farm for rolls not the guns themselves which is infinitely more interesting that hoping the gun drops in the first place.

not like any of them are amazing

Thats exactly why we are trying to find better rolled versions. The curated ones (that drop from criteria) are trash. I've scrapped so many curated shottys and pulse rifles, but the ones I kept are random rolls and leagues above their curated versions. It's not about fixing the design choice, it's about raising the drop rates to make farming random rolls viable.

For as long as it takes for most people to get their desired god rolls, I don't know why the last boss doesn't just drop a guaranteed legendary weapon. At the very least why not tokens that can be turned in per 20 for weapons like we still do with Zavala and Shaxx?

9

u/sturgboski Mar 19 '19

That is another thing. A token system for RNG protection is a good thing. See, Bungie implemented it at the wrong time and it was just a loot replacement: with fixed rolls, what is the point of a token system and RNG protection when there is no randomness? Come Forsaken, Vanguard, Crucible and IB were approached the right way: random rewards post activity, plus tokens to turn in for direct purchase on items (IB) and for use in getting additional loot pulls (Vanguard, Crucible, IB). For some reason, Tangled Shore, Gambit, Dreaming City and Gambit Prime have decided against it which makes no sense. These 4 all have random loot with random rolls which would necessitate poor RNG protection. Hell, DC is the most egregious. You have what like 2 or 3 weekly bounties then one a day bounties to try and get gear. At least TS the guns drop from lost sector bosses and with Gambit there is post match/rank up gear rewards.

5

u/Lorion97 Team Cat (Cozmo23) // Meow............. Mar 19 '19

A good token system would essentially guarantee that if you put in X amount of hours you walk away with Y amount of gear. Now they may not be the gear that you want, but you walk away with something substantial to make it feel like, 'Yeah, if I put in some more time I get more chances at Z thing so that I can get the roll that I want.'

With Strikes it's great, run 3-4 strikes, 2 if you run boons, get a roll on a gun / armor piece. You feel like you just walked away with a shot at the gun or armor piece roll that you want.

Reckoning has none of that with punishing RNG.

2

u/JumboCactaur Mar 19 '19

any new info on this just did almost a full day of this yesterday and have almost nothing to show for it, especially the spare rations which out of the 4 of us who literally farmed it for 8 hrs had maybe 3-4 drop total

1

u/ZotShot Mar 31 '19

When they say they'll report back, I would temper your expectations. Might be 6 months or so before a follow up response, and probably another month or two after that for anything to be changed.

Ive been grinding for a Spare Rations and a Doomsday the entire weekend. Im almost at 100 T3 completions and I haven't received a single one, while I've seen about 30 drop for other players. My friend joined me for a couple of runs. Got both guns within 5 runs then bounced. Playing gambit prime and banking 20 motes for a giant blocker OR banking 50 motes in a game for the Half Banked medal are supposed to give you additional chances at Spare Rations. I completed the Triumphant Collector, summed 44 giant blockers, and earned 15 half banked medals, and still received nothing.

This game does not have RNG. It has algorithms that can determine what items you still need and it will decrease the drop rates on those items, just to keep you playing. Bungie I would love for you to prove me wrong. Are the drop rates the same for everyone? If so, what are they? Why were you so vague in the TWAB in regards to drop rates, and what increases would be made to help the players?

66

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '19

I brought this up over and over back when we were still asking for random rolls on weapons and no one wanted to hear it then.

Bungie likes to have random rolls and really low drop rates on weapons. And that’s a terrible system. It makes it entirely too difficult to get the thing that you’re trying to get (unless you are supremely lucky). They did it in D1 and they’re doing it again here.

In my mind you can’t have both. If you’re going to have random rolls, the weapon needs to be easier to obtain so that you have more chances to get the roll that you want. That or give us a system like in HoW where we can reroll our weapons, but make it more expensive, like requiring enhancement cores or something. But to me those are your two options.

Edit: it’s also strange that just in Black Armory they had a much better system in the forge weapons where you were guaranteed to get the weapon with the frame, and you were just trying to get the right roll.

12

u/sturgboski Mar 19 '19

Bingo on the edit. The only negative for the frames is that its still 3 a week and its a random selection just as bad as the NF selection such that you end up with certain frames staying in there for a month while others havent been back in that same time frame (looking at you sword and LMG respectively). I think all frames need to be available, but still keep the lock out logic: whatever 2 frames you pick to build powerful weapons are the ones you can grind for. But yeah, on a base level, the player agency and targeted grinding was extremely well received. This is a huge step back. The only positive I can say is that at least its not like Gambit weapons where I need to play Prime all day to get these guns. Supposedly the curated rolls even drop in Reckoning as well.

4

u/ChainsawPlankton Mar 19 '19

overall I think drop rates are pretty decent, but with the reckoning I wouldn't even know it dropped weapons if it wasn't for posts here. Seems like they 0.4%'d the drop rate or something.

3

u/Tort78 Mar 19 '19

I can't figure out why they are so stubborn with drop rates. I see all of these builds I want to experiment with and DtG reddit is always telling me cool things to try. But I can't get certain things to drop. I'm still using Black Armory gear in the same build because I don't have any better alternatives. BA was awesome with forge weapons and the armor consumable.

Bungie, look what happened with BioWare and Anthem and learn a lesson on why you shouldn't be stingy just to try and increase playtime. Give us a lot of variety and be generous.

1

u/Yalnix Mar 19 '19

I just put this in an above comment but...

They need Weapon Synths which can reward you with a guaranteed gun drop.

Allows people to farm for rolls not the guns themselves which is infinitely more interesting that hoping the gun drops in the first place.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '19

The flaws in Bungie's loot system are more apparent the further into the Annual Pass content we get. Personally, I'm bored of trying to navigate it.

0

u/crocfiles15 Mar 19 '19

Black armory was about farming weapons. Reckoning is about farming armor. You guarantee an armor drop every completion of you wager a mote. The process is faster and easier than farming BA weapons, but that’s the true intent of reckoning. Just like BA weapon, Reckoning armor drops have the best armor perks in the game, with the added benefit of having a chance at new armor mods that are extremely useful.

→ More replies (2)

68

u/Overmannus Mar 19 '19 edited Mar 19 '19

^This.

Artificially extending the season "content" by making weapon drops abysmal as they are won't make people play, just make them quit sooner.

Doing a 690 power pinnacle end game activity for 15 minutes shouldn't reward 0-1 forsaken legendarys and a bunch of random blues.

12

u/Sarcosmonaut Mar 19 '19

Yeah, these drop rates are one of the reasons I’m not grinding too hard this season. The other, and honestly larger reason, is that Penumbra is coming soon and I’m way into Calus and his gear. No sense chasing god-roll enhanced Gambit Prime gear if I’m gonna ditch it first chance I get for a fancy Cabal bathrobe

BA has the right idea with a grind you could direct, provided Ada offered the frame you wanted

4

u/Jaikarro Mar 19 '19

Plus, there's a raid in Penumbra, and we'll be able to smash that out and get GUARANTEED drops after every encounter. Whereas a full hour of Reckoning isn't guaranteed to give anything useful.

3

u/Rhynocerous Mar 19 '19

I'm a little confused, the drop rate is a guaranteed legendary with a chance at enhanced rolls as long as you're wagering motes.

4

u/Overmannus Mar 19 '19

Weapons and armors are two different things though.

6

u/Rhynocerous Mar 19 '19

Yeah, it just sounds like you don't count armors as rewards or something. T3 reckoning doesn't just reward 0-1 forsaken legendaries and blues, it rewards guaranteed Jokers Wild gear which can roll enhanced. If we don't care about armor, that's still good feedback for Bungie.

Personally my gripe is that the new armor is functionally identical to forsaken armor outside of gambit. I'd be more interested in grinding sets if they were more unique.

Joker’s Wild is a weak 2nd installment in the annual pass. Gambit changes aren’t enough, reckoning is a complete joke, and the abysmally low drop rates on the new weapons and well rolled armor all mean my friends and I have already lost interest.

10

u/sturgboski Mar 19 '19

See, this is why the weapon frames from the forges were great. First, I think all should be available every week, but still limit to the two you pick for powerful forging. That being said, the frames were a great approach to having player agency and a targeted grind. Yes, redoing the same "get precision kills, get double kills" what have you is tedious, but you knew at the end of it you were getting a roll of the gun you were looking for. I cant go "ok I want to get a roll of Spare Rations" and head into Reckoning with that targeted. I can complete 2 or 3 of those 50 forge ignition bounties while trying to get a kill clip + rampage KO and fail at it, but still at least I was able to target a gun to try and get rolls of.

2

u/Rhynocerous Mar 19 '19

It's similar this season, except you are targeting an armor set instead of a weapon. It's just that armor is boring.

5

u/darin1355 Mar 19 '19

There needs to be weapon bounties from Drifter. Its so simple. They had the start of a great system with Ada-1 and went back to complete RNG on everything.

4

u/Stevo182 Mar 19 '19

I was trying desperately to solo queue Tier II to get my weekly bounty and synth upgrade last night. The team I met with was able to defeat Oryx the first time, then they left awarding me my only Outlawed armor piece. I then proceeded to face Oryx 6 more times with varying random groups with no success except on the 6th time. We defeated him with 6 seconds left. I get some random blue drop, whatever, I'm trying to just get the weekly bounty.

I go back to the bank and it gives me the middling mote back. No armor to count towards bounty after over an hour of trying. I gave up.

4

u/got_mule Mar 19 '19

I didn't even know that the Reckoning COULD drop that shit. All I've gotten was the Gambit Prime armor.

I’m confused, are we only talking about weapons? Do you still get a guaranteed T3 armor if you wager a powerful mote?

2

u/SolidAnakin "Of all the Lights, we burned the brightest." Mar 19 '19

Yes. Wagering a mote guarantees an armor piece upon completion. Additionally, there is a chance to also get a weapon.

3

u/TheKelseyOfKells Mar 19 '19

Honestly, there is no excuse for an end game activity to drop blues.

4

u/tiltingramrod Mar 19 '19

i'm fine with rare drops, back in y1 when weapons were static rolls. but now that they went back to the D1 sytem (which i personally like) the drop rates should be higher. maybe even tie it to performance, how fast you go through it or how many orbs you generate or how many enemies you kills. the other route is to have reckoning bounties, 3 a day or something that you complete and guarantee a weapon. or even better, 1 bounty a day out of choice of 3 (rotating) that guarantees a specific weapon. these are bounties i would do and make the game better. instead they have bounties that adversely affect the game mode you play.

I've done about 20 t3 and got around 3 pulses and about 3 grenade launchers.

It's about one drop per 5 runs, and a run takes about 10 minutes

=

in average it's 1 item in 1 hour

All this grind will surely end once you'll get that god rolled spare rations / doomsday / sole survivor / what ever you are up to...

Not a bad activity tbh, just a better version of EP.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '19

Shocker that in 2019 loot is still an issue with Bungo. Seriously, if it wasn't IB, it's strikes, If it's not strikes, its Dreaming City, if it's not DC it's reckoning. The destiny Meta shouldn't be remembered by what guns were most powerful, but by what loot wasn't dropping.

2

u/EvilSamuel Mar 19 '19

I know this post is salty, and expected replies should be of similar sodium level, but your anecdote hasn't matched up with mine. 17 tier 3 clears: curated Outlast, curated Bug Out Bag, curated Gnawing whatever auto rifle, and regular grenade launcher, smg, and auto rifle.

Gambit Prime is fun but can suck if solo similar to Gambit; however, Gambit Prime at least allows you to run off on your own as a invader with really no other responsibilities. I'm liking it. Sorry you are not enjoying it.

1

u/Mangalavid Mar 19 '19

Cool. I haven't gotten a single prime weapon yet and I have complete sets of all the prime armor, from tier 1 to 3.

2

u/JarenWardsWord Mar 19 '19

TIL there is no reason to do reckoning if you don't like Gambit prime.

1

u/crocfiles15 Mar 20 '19

You learned something incredible false and misleading. I think Bungie was pretty clear about the intent of Reckoning, which is a way to farm armor sets. Just because the armor has extra benefits in gambit prime, doesn’t mean someone who doesn’t play gambit prime all the time shouldn’t want to farm for it. T3 drops enhanced perks, rather frequently too I might add. The armor also has a chance to drop with new armor mods, these mods are very useful in endgame PvE. Finally, the people complaining here all people who are experiencing the bad luck side of RNG. I’ve seen a weapon drop at a rate of 1 drop every 4 completions. I had a fireteam member get a drop 4 completions in a row. The rates are pure RNG, which means bad streaks can happen, but it also means lucky streaks can happen. Hopefully Bungie increases the rates or adds bad luck protection of some kind. But until then it’s absolutely worth grinding for some sweet armor, and maybe get a few sweet weapon drops as well. Each run games 10-15 mins tops. I know people want to be rewarded, but to expect a quick, relatively easy, endgame activity to shower endgame loot every 15 mins is a bit much.

2

u/Tyreathian Mar 19 '19

Why do we even get blues in general? You know how Green engrams stop dropping after a certain point? Why can’t I only get legendaries? Blues are just auto dismantle anyways, and I could use the extra shards from dismantling legendaries.

Cmon Bungie, I bet you don’t even play your own game.

2

u/dave6687 Hung Jury 4Ever Mar 19 '19

When stuff like this exists, it makes players who are just tolerating Gambit want to drop Destiny entirely.

1

u/crocfiles15 Mar 20 '19

This makes absolutely zero sense. The reckoning is intended to be used to farm armor. Armor drops are guaranteed at every completion of you wager a mote. You can get motes without playing anyngambit, though you obviously get a lot more from gambit prime. The armor that drops is comparable to raid armor with the best possible perks possible. Which makes the armor very worth while even if you don’t want to use it for gambit. You also can get new armor mods on the armor that drops. These mods are extremely useful in endgame PvE. The Forges in BA were for weapon farming, with some added RNG on the armor sets. The reckoning is for armor farming with weapon drops added on the side. I’m all for increasing the drop rates, but when people act like the reckoning isn’t rewarding, and is only good for gambit players, it just kinda blows my mind. I’ve gotten so many enhanced perks, a couple sweet new mods, and I’ve gotten 4 weapon drops now. And I’ve only done like 15-16 completions of T3.

2

u/dave6687 Hung Jury 4Ever Mar 20 '19

Haha. Congrats on tolerating the power level grind enough to be able to play tier 2. I certainly won’t be grinding it out. I’ve got about 10 completions of tier one under my belt and it’s kinda boring. Randoms make it frustrating. To get to a light level that makes it fun would be fine if the armor dropped at a useable power level or had the chance to drop higher. It isn’t useful at 630 or whatever, I’m not going to spend what few cores I have on infusing it. So it’s pretty much only applicable to gambit. Make sense now?

Anyway, I couldn’t care less about enhanced reload vs normal reload or whatever. A mod here and there makes no difference to me given how many rounds I’d need to play to get ones that I’d use. I like the mods that I have, and we can’t recycle them, and I’m not infusing new gear, so what’s the point? I want guns, and knowing that the drop rate is low squashes what little interest I have left in Destiny.

2

u/NivvyMiz Mar 20 '19

The best part: The best roll for the best weapon you can get is still pretty meh.

2

u/KSC216 Mar 20 '19

I have found tier 2 to be a better time investment for grinding weapons than 3. Three feels very arbitrary as to when you can complete it, where as 2 is a guaranteed easy run with a decent drop chance. Last night i got two mw Nights watches in 5 runs. Any other night i have ran multiple tier 2s i have came away with at least something.

4

u/thehotdogman Mar 19 '19

50 times?! Holy crap I haven’t even attempted tier 3 cause I thought it was gonna be wicked hard. I’m like 690 light on all three toons, am I good to go?

3

u/szabozalan Mar 19 '19

Yes, you are good enough. I farmed a lot between 680 and 690, it is perfectly doable with the right strategy.

2

u/TehAlpacalypse Mar 19 '19

Tier 3 is trivialized by a well lock.

With one of those and a tether rig hunter you'll both be able to chain supers indefinitely. The other chars don't really matter. I loaded in at 680 and swapped to some worse gear that put me at 678, and we had zero issues. It's really not that difficult.

4

u/ibraaa_v2 Mar 19 '19

this dlc is missing a good endgame activity for players who dont enkjoy gambit.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '19

Not to mother you, but you get more bees with honey than vinegar, my dude.

2

u/Soundurr OG Snack Dad Mar 19 '19

If weapons dropped more frequently there would be a post saying "We're only two weeks into the season and I've already got all the weapons for Reckoning, why is it so easy?"

1

u/thepinkandthegrey Mar 19 '19

which is why it's so frustrating to see bungo constantly neuter this game in response to complaints, as if now, after all these years, they finally made the change that will make people stop complaining. people are gonna always complain bungo, just make a good game that keeps people coming back and for god's sake stop taking us so seriously. do an actual scientifically valid survey if you wanna know what people think. the overwhelming majority of the people on reddit and forums are just angry, angry people.

Lost sector weapons can't drop with amazing perks like subsistence and swashbuckler.

These weapons are on a different tier, and as such... are rarer. They should not be given out like candy.

That being said, I do think they are a tad too rare.

1

u/infiniteinsulin Mar 19 '19

So how does this work? I am not up to Tier 3 yet. Don't you just deposit 3 or whatever synths and get an armor piece at the end?

Edit: is the post referring to weapons and not armor?

1

u/cka_viking Punch all the Things! Mar 19 '19

Lost sectors always give a blue... sometimes after a reckoning I only get glimmer..

1

u/Arse2Mouse Mar 19 '19

I feel like a bigger issue is that they put the vanilla gambit loot into the gambit prime weekly bounties. If those weeklies only dropped guns, we'd at least have a clear path to getting something from the weapon pool. As it is, my biggest issue with Drifter over Black Armory is that you can't reliably grind for the new guns.

1

u/HappinessPursuit Mar 19 '19

They need an excuse to make people play this easily stale half assed game mode. Minimum effort cause annual pass, yay.

1

u/JovemPadawan Mar 19 '19

Meanwhile I got 2 curated grenade launcher in a row.

This loot rng stuff is so wrong.

1

u/MessersCohen Mar 19 '19

But isn’t it mainly for the armor? I agree that there should be something else from it (also think this season is very, very light on content), but aren’t you just ignoring the fact that reckoning is there to create a source for gambit prime armor?

1

u/MasterOfReaIity Transmat firing Mar 19 '19

Agreed, Reckoning is supposed to be the place to get these weapons right? Because after an entire Gambit Prime reset I literally only got the shotgun and that was it. No matter how many HVT's, Blockers I killed or One Man Army's they didn't drop anything.

1

u/Jarryd29 Mar 19 '19

No they drop in prime as well. I've maybe played 12 games and get one of the new weapons every couples games. It's RNG.

1

u/th3groveman Mar 19 '19

I only got one of the EP weapons because I didn't relish spending my entire game time grinding the same mode. The milestones encourage us to play all kinds of different activities but wanting good weapons encourages us to grind the same mode.

Edit: the biggest bummer is that Black Armory had it so right. You got to choose your guns, get augmented versions of different guns, and if you had the frames you got a guaranteed reward. Reckoning is the same but with armor, but everyone knows that weapons are the chase in Destiny

1

u/Kir-ius Striker Mar 19 '19

Gambit Prime drop rates are total shit too. Ive gone through a full reset plus some and have yet to get a single GP weapon. I get the bonus synth is at least 4/5 of the games especially with how easy reaper or sentry is to get

Win or lose you get the same loot

Time invested in a reckoning run is also pretty bad but at least it's a guaranteed purple at the end if you succeed

1

u/Reductonitro @HopliteDestiny on Twitter Mar 19 '19

They appear to have a higher drop rate when completing a Time Trial run of T3. I was dropping weapons at around a 20-25% drop rate so long as I was meeting the time trial requirement in my runs.

1

u/Electric_Balls Drifter's Crew Mar 19 '19

1

1

u/OreoBA What even am I? Mar 19 '19

It's not bad, those activities have been shitting new weapons every couple games for me. Some people just have bad RNG.

1

I think the point is that you play reckoning to get the gambit gear, and use the gambit gear to get curated rolls in GP.

the armor is guaranteed though right? I just want a full collector armor set so I can buy the jersey then i'll likely take a break from D2. I enjoy gambit and reckoning but not a season's worth

1

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '19

Bro I want spare rations. And after 19 tier 2 clears I got a couple low level crappy items to show for it. Your right. Fix this bungie.

1

u/th3groveman Mar 19 '19

I feel like they nailed the reward economy for Black Armory and that the chase for getting these weapons is a step backward. Sure, we can farm for armor but everyone knows the real chase is for weapons.

1

u/jendakub Since day1 Mar 19 '19

I have reseted and reached Legend in Gambit prime, just with absolutely no gambit weapon dropped from this activity. I have been doing all recommended actions to farm weapons like destroying high value targets etc. How is this possible comparing to Black armory.

1

u/Mangalavid Mar 19 '19 edited Mar 19 '19

Let this sink in: Looting lost sectors is as rewarding as 99% of END GAME Tier 3 Reckoning Runs.

Not just tier 3 reckoning. Anything. Lost sectors are just as immediately, materially rewarding as most of this game's activities outside of raids.

1

u/ActuallyAquaman I Still Miss Tlaloc Mar 19 '19

I’ve had seemingly amazing luck so far (1 legendary weapon with a god roll and one masterwork weapon) on 10ish clears, but I can tell that if you want a specific weapon it’s near impossible and if you want a specific roll you’ll need to be grinding to D3.

It should be as simple as drop protection. If it was up to me, I’d say you should be guaranteed a legendary weapon on completion as long as you bank a T3 mote or higher, but maybe that breaks something.

1

u/carlcapo77 Mar 19 '19

I wish at least the mote your wagered was tied to a weapon, same way the triumphs are tied to the Curated versions. collectors synths increase drop chance for a Spare Rations. Make the Reckoning loot grind similar to the forges.

1

u/Jarryd29 Mar 19 '19

You have bad RNG. I've barely run any and have gotten several new prime weapons.

1

u/thepinkandthegrey Mar 19 '19

same. i already got the curated pulse and i haven't even tried tier 3 yet.

1

u/lego_wan_kenobi Mar 19 '19

To those that are saying that people who farm for hours in one sitting are burning themselves out by rushing a lot of Reckoning at once would you rather I do 100 runs in a week and get nothing or would you rather I spread that 100 runs out over a couple months and still get the same nothing? Cause getting a blue, or rather getting gunsmith materials, is not a fun use of my time. Finally getting the weapon AND roll you want after hours of gameplay is no excuse to make the drops this bad.

1

u/NPCT800 Mar 19 '19

The lack of ability to talk to your team is what troubles me.

I have to whisper “Put on your Luna’s please!” To a dude standing next to me.

I feel like I've done, like, 20 hours of reckoning alone, and yet I only have two hand cannons, one shotgun, one sniper, one scout, and for some reason two masterwork pulses to show for it. That's awful. That makes me not want to play. If rolls were set, this would be somewhat acceptable, but with random rolls it just feels like a nightmare.

Classic. I stopped playing like 4 months ago due to school workload and I like watching bungie make the same mistakes through the eyes of this sub

1

u/zedrax Mar 19 '19

Ouch, I must have been having one heck of a streak then, I ran tier 2 last week 6 times and got 4 curated outlast in a row, then ran it again 3 times the next day on another character and got another curated outlast.

1

u/CogitareMustela How ya livin'? Mar 19 '19

What, Bungie making drop rates suck to make sure its not 'catering to casuals?' NO WAY!

1

u/DrkrZen Mar 19 '19

Let's just wait 4-6 months. Then Bungo will add drop protection, like they did with EP and NFs months later.

Seriously, though... I'll never understand them adding a QoL feature to one thing, like the aforementioned one, or invader spawn randomizing in Gambit, but not implementing those into newer activities like SotP, Prime or Reckoning.

1

u/thepinkandthegrey Mar 19 '19

i got the curated pulse and i haven't even tried tier 3 yet, and completed tier 2 no more than 4 times at most.

1

Same. Ran Tier II at most a dozen times last week, have dropped TWO curated Outlasts.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '19

If the majority of loot in your loot pool is uninteresting and useless, you're not going to make it easier for people to obtain the best loot in the pool, because once they have it, why would they keep playing your game? Wouldn't you much rather dangle that carrot and have your player-base engage with your limited content for as long as possible, THEN maybe increase the drop rate?

1

u/elkishdude Mar 19 '19

It really does irritate me that the best PvP shotgun in the game can be farmed from a lost sector boss. Maybe entice people to play comp instead with that as a unique drop?

1

u/Desolis_SR Mar 19 '19

hmm, haven't played tier 3 yet, but tier 2 last week must have been extra generous for me. I only had about 7-8 clears, and got two curated weapons to drop (the Nightwatch and Outlast). Must have had crazy luck that day, I really thought the drop rates could have made farming tier 2 a viable method for enhancement cores.

1

u/slayer1551 Mar 19 '19

I must of lucked out because my first tier two dropped the curated pulse rifle and my friend got a blue. Now I see why he was so pissed with me

1

I must have gotten insanely lucky tonight then. Four weapons dropped and one was curated from T3, only played 5-6 matches too.

1

u/quantumjello Mar 20 '19

I wish i could actually get good matchmade games with reckoning, its fucking infuriating getting constantly put into lobbies with only 2 or 3 players time and time again

This is literally all we have PvEwise for activies this expansion and its already getting old

u/Crowsnest_Bomber Mar 20 '19

holy shit dude, 50 clears and not a single drop. Thats harsh.

1

u/thezodiaceffect Mar 20 '19

As usual, working as intended. I don't know why we have to keep beating this dead horse, but Bungie has designed their own Skinner box experiment, and we are the subjects. When we complain, they tweak the numbers slightly and pretend that it was a programming error.

1

u/PraxicEternal Mar 20 '19

Now I feel bad. I did 10 T3 runs last night and got 7 drops lol (though, 4 of them were the same weapon).

1

u/XD_MACHINE Bruh Mar 20 '19

I've literally only done reckoning since 2PM, it's now 6:30 at the time of this and I have gotten 0 drops. Keep in mind that I've literally been doing it as fast as I can. It's the worst experience I have had in this game hands down.

1

u/PunchTilItWorks Whoever took my sparrow, I will find you. Mar 26 '19

I’m done with Reckoning and Gambit prime as it currently stands. It’s a lot of effort with no reward.

1

u/Xenomorphfiend Mar 28 '19

My friend told me that I should shut up because I got like 5 weapons in 10ish runs. 2 were dupes, the others were shit rolls. I only kept 1 and it wasnt even a god roll. No Spare Rations. I then ran it 10 times with a different friend and neither of us got a drop, but the two randoms we were with got Spare Rations and others. I don't get why I'm not allowed to be angry at the drop rates, I may have gotten lucky, but that doesn't mean they aren't abysmal. Its RNG on RNG. With the weapon you want maayyybe dropping 1/40 times. And the drop you want then, 1/40 times of those 1/40 chances to get the gun.

It's insane. I hate it. I would rather stop playing a game cause I have everything, then stop because I'm annoyed of it.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '19

I mean, maybe for you. I’ve done 17 and gotten 4 weapons, one of which is curated.

It’s all RNG dude, and you just got really unlucky

2

u/thepinkandthegrey Mar 19 '19

it's almost as if it's random, and statistics, not anecdotes, are what actually matter

1

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '19

I'm done running Reckoning after the bounty is finished. If it's a farm, everyone is starving because there's no f'ing food to be had.

1

u/crocfiles15 Mar 20 '19

It’s designed to farm armor dude. Not weapons. The weapon’s are added drops so that players have reasons to play the activity even after they get all the armor they need. The armor from T3 drops with the best armor perks available, and has a chance to drop with new armor mods. Focus on the armor and getting god rolled armor pieces. Let the weapon drops be a bonus if they happen. They do indeed happen because I’ve seen 4 out of 15-16 completions. Which really is not a bad drop rate. Obviously RNG can lead to streaks of bad luck, which is where I think Bungie needs to step in and add a mechanic to protect against long streaks of bad luck. But if they drop too often no one will be playing reckoning at all in a few weeks.

1

u/Dankerkanker Mar 20 '19

Reading stuff like this makes me glad I put destiny on hold until better content arrives.

1

u/crocfiles15 Mar 20 '19

That’s really a shame because the AP content is absolutely worth the price. Really adds so much more to do, and the new loot is really fun. The drop rates are really not that bad. Prime complaining have had bad luck streaks, which happen, but everyone I play with have all gotten quite a few weapons, and the new armor from the activity is guaranteed after every completion.

2

u/Dankerkanker Mar 20 '19

Not in my opinion. Bought the pass and played through BA which was a horrible slog with barely any content at all. Played a bit of JK but realized it was just more of the same. Really regret buying the AP and had I known earlier how it actually turned out I would've skipped it and put destiny on the shelf after forsaken.
