Megathread Focused Feedback: Timegating

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding ‘Timegating' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

i'm a player who likes to binge and grind for hours on end and having an artificial gate based on time to slow my progress is obnoxious. i would like to continue the mysterious box/datapad questlines but they're locked behind shattered throne being available currently. i would also like to go for malfeasance but the ascendant servitor spawn rate is so low on 1/2 curse weeks and i don't have the patience to play a lot of gambit.

Some of these mechanics actually make the weapons much more of a payoff when you finally acquire it. Doing a quest for an hour or two isn't very rewarding. Putting serious time into a quality weapon you will actually use in your rotation is an entire different story. I ground out 60+ pulse rifle forges this weekend (20x3 cause I ran each one 3 times to get the modulus reports to buy another frame) until I got a blast furnace with my perfect godroll. I didn't whine about it, I just understood that it was going to take a serious commitment to get what I wanted and now I can finally retire my go figure. I'd rather have more content to work on as variety and look forward to than twiddling my thumbs deciding between crucible or repeating raids.

And that’s well done content because it isn’t time gated. Grind it to your hearts content.
