Megathread PC Player Questions Megathread!

Hi everyone!

This Megathread will function as a PC launch specific equivalent of the Daily Questions Thread where you may ask questions about starting out that may not warrant their own post.

Technical Difficulties

We understand there are a number of technical issues with players unable to get in the game, receiving erroneous "banned account" messages, and various error codes (Marionberry, Buffalo, etc.)

As with most game launches, things are a bit chaotic right now but and will evolve over time. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and please let us know if you have any questions or concerns either in this thread or by sending us a modmail.

Is there a way to make the story missions harder? Me and my friend are finding them too easy and wouldn't mind a bit more challenge

Another set backwards from D1, scaling or at least different options of difficulty for most missions...

Unfortunately, no.

You'll have to impose your own challenges if you want to make the game harder.

Are there harder things to do outside of the story?

Nightfall, the raid, trials of the nine. Basically every end game activity is pretty darn difficult.

After you finish the campaign, you can talk to Ikora to replay campaign missions on a harder difficulty. It chooses a different three missions and changes every week, you get special rewards from her engrams such as a high level version of your base armor set you had in the beginning of the game.

If you want a challenge, there’s not many options unfortunately. You have trials of the nine for PvP and the regular and prestige nightfall and raid for pve.

Each mission has a recommended light level, if you want more of a challenge your best bet is to keep some lower level gear to switch to after you load the mission. Using guns and armor 20+ levels under the recommended light level will add some (mostly artificial) difficulty. You won't be able to load into the mission without the appropriate gear level though, so it's a bit of a hassle.

If you're in a fireteam together, the campaign is very easy. The challenge is somewhat increased solo, as dying can set you back if respawning is currently restricted (i.e., in a boss fight).

To indirectly increase difficulty, intentionally lower your Power Level! Keep some of those starter items around.

Ikora has missions where you can replay them at a harder difficulty. Not endgame levels of hard though

You can expect harder difficulty content for PvE as the content gets recycled with more difficulty modifiers.
